We had the good fortune of connecting with Keshia Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keshia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting Slayy Hair Boutique was driven by my own experiences and the needs of women like me. I understand how important it is to look and feel confident, especially during those crucial moments at work or when you’re out having fun with friends. I saw a gap in the market for high-quality, long-lasting hair extensions and wigs that are both luxurious and easy to use. I wanted to create a solution for women who, like me, are always on the go and need a quick, yet stylish hair option without compromising on quality. By offering limited edition styles and a free touch-up maintenance package, I aim to ensure every woman can look like an It-girl and a boss, no matter how busy her schedule is.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our brand specializes in high-quality, raw hair extensions and glueless closure wigs that combine luxury with convenience. What sets us apart is our dedication to providing products that last over five years, specifically designed to meet the needs of busy professional women. Our limited edition styles, vibrant highlight colors, and complimentary touch-up maintenance package ensure that our clients can achieve a polished, confident look with minimal effort.

One thing I am most proud of is my resilience and determination. No matter what obstacles came my way, I kept pushing forward with my business. I’ve had to restart Slayy Hair Boutique four times, and each time I got better and better. These experiences have taught me invaluable lessons and made me more adept at navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship.

The journey to where I am today professionally has not been easy. There were numerous challenges, but I overcame them by staying positive, learning continuously, and drawing inspiration from those around me.

As I rebrand Slayy Hair Boutique to better cater to businesswomen in need of our creative styles and colors, I want the world to know that my brand is all about empowering women to feel confident and stylish, no matter how busy their schedules are. The lessons I’ve learned along the way include the importance of resilience, the value of continuous learning, and the power of a positive mindset. These principles have been essential in helping me build a brand that not only meets the needs of my clients but also makes them feel like the best versions of themselves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d ensure they have an unforgettable week-long trip. We’d start with dinner at Rumi’s Kitchen in Colony Square, enjoying authentic Persian cuisine. The next day, we’d indulge in lobster meat ramen at E Ramen and savor the best pasta at Grana. To mix things up, we’d explore vegan spots like Tassili’s Raw Reality Café. In between, we’d hit up boutiques for some shopping and check out local events happening in the area. From culinary delights to cultural experiences, it would be a week filled with fun, food, and exploration

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are definitely a few people who deserve a huge shoutout in my story.

First and foremost, I want to give a shoutout to my son Ja’Kai. His hugs and kisses are well-needed and keep me motivated every second of the day through this journey i am on. I want to give a shoutout to my otherhalf Ced. He played a crucial role in showing me the ropes of running a business. While he was busy launching his own business, Life Haul, he never hesitated to help me. He taught me how to create my first Shopify store, run ads, and care for my clients in every way possible. Despite his hectic schedule, he always kept me in a positive mindset and introduced me to knowledge books like “The Top 10 Distinctions Between Millionaires and the Middle Class” and “Rich Dad Poor Dad.” His guidance and encouragement were invaluable.

I also want to give a shoutout to my brother Demetrius. His journey has been incredibly inspiring. He started his business, DW Alloy and Interior Repair, with no prior knowledge but had the courage and determination to learn everything on his own. Despite what friends and family said during his transition, he stepped out on faith and built a seven-figure business. His perseverance and success keep me motivated every day.

Lastly, I want to thank all my supporters on social media. Even if they don’t purchase, their likes and shares help spread the word about my work and keep me motivated. Their support means the world to me and keeps me going.

To all my social media supporters, thank you for being a part of my journey and helping me achieve my dreams with Slayy Hair Boutique.
