Meet JoAnn Corley-Schwarzkopf: Global Leadership Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with JoAnn Corley-Schwarzkopf and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi JoAnn, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
By promoting global good by activating and championing the potential of each member of our great human community. It is my belief that change in any context begins with the individual. Take a moment and consider the great movements in human history – for good or evil – they were begun initially by a single individual who inspired and rally the power of the collective group to promote change. Every individual has the power within them to first change their own life and then, through the universal principle of “the ripple effect”, influence change in the lives of others. I intentionally started and designed my business to support and promote this truth.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I love to consider the question, “What sets me apart?” Because, in the spirit of each person having their unique soul print, each person is set apart in what they do…if…they listen to and follow their own heart, spirit, personal interests, talents, and truths. For me, it was an interest in business and commerce and how that impacted our human experience, particularly as it met human needs. I recall 2 books I read early in my career, Business as a Calling by Michael Novak and The Path by Laura Beth Jones which both discussed the concept of being able to express your purpose and sense of mission through business. Those books inspired me to do just that. Additionally, early in my professional life, I found the human dynamic of teams and collaborative work fascinating. I loved considering the interactive experience of working together to achieve common goals, create innovative products and services, while collectively applying their skills, capabilities, and talents. During the beginning stages of my career, I had the opportunity to experience all of that in wonderful ways. I worked for several fabulous companies where I experienced a great sense of camaraderie, shared success, respect, and appreciation of my contribution. Those experiences laid the foundation for how and why I started my business. I wanted to help improve people dynamics as it related to getting the best business results and to promote recognizing and even financially calculating the value of their contribution. For as long as I’ve been in business – some 22+ years – this is still one of the greatest challenges in companies today. So I created an easy to follow blueprint which helps business leaders better understand and manage people dynamics and the financial impact through the lens of human behavior science.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is such a great place to live and work. Besides the climate, it has cozy spots and fabulous food to experience. One unique and popular location is Ponce City Market. It’s the old Sears warehouse building, also formally known as City Hall East. It’s been transformed into a live, work, play space. It is architecturally interesting and has a wonderful variety of shops and eateries on the first floor, along with a rooftop game area, which includes a miniature golf course and a fabulous bar and restaurant, which in the summer is completely open air. Along with outdoor seating, seats to drink and mingle around the fire pit, and the view of the city it’s worth the visit! I must say I am a bit partial to this location, as I lived through its entire renovation and transformation due to my husband’s role in the work. Additionally, outside the city is one of my favorite museums – The Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville. Of note is one whole wing dedicated to presidents where each display has something with their original handwriting.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my mother Marguerite. Not only did she advocate for my adoption, she demonstrated leadership and service through her individual convictions and passions in a variety of areas. She taught me the power of an individual – that a title, permission from others or formal recognition is not necessary to lead and generate a lasting, legacy like impact.
