We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Honore Omidele and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitney, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My business enhances the community by informing caretakers and helping littles learn how to communicate. Communicating their needs and wants is a crucial part of their development and I love to play a role in this.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from other Speech Therapists, is that I am an African American and in our field, we only represent 2% of the entire field. Children need representation, so I love that I can provide this for children and families in the community. I am proud to yield results in all of the children I serve.
I am a pediatric speech therapist who specializes in providing speech and language therapy for young children and families. I created Blossom Speech Therapy to create a place where parents feel fully supported in the therapy process, while giving children individualized treatment. I know that parent and caregiver involvement is key to success, so coaching is a fundamental aspect in her approach.
I have learned that mentorship is extremely helpful and help you avoid lots of beginner mistakes, but I constantly remind myself to give myself grace.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For brunch/lunch, we’d go to Roc Steady and then maybe Apt4b or Bar Vegan for a good time and amazing cocktails. For nightlife, we would go to Red Room to enjoy the food, vibes, entertainment, and drinks.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband and family has been very supportive during this journey of entering into entrepreneurship.
