We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Willis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Madison, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my own business because I saw need for a change in the diet and weight loss industry. I worked as a nutritionist and weight loss coach for companies that helped people lose weigh but not maintain their weight loss. The majority of weight loss companies operating today would prefer their customers stay customers for life, so true success and independence is not part of their business model. The companies I worked for offered a quick fix but didn’t teach sustainable lifestyle change. As a result, I witnessed a lot of yo-yo dieting, which can lead to long-term health problems such as metabolic dysfunction. I felt I was doing a disservice to my clients if I was not helping them lose weight to improve their health long-term, and I couldn’t find a company to work for that approached weight loss effectively and sustainably. As a chronic yo-yo dieter myself, I experimented and researched until I found a method that worked, not only for weight loss, but for maintaining a healthy weight long-term. I named my program “NOYOYO” and began teaching my method to my clients at a medical weight loss center I was employed at. My clients lost weight more than ever, and without having to take the dangerous and addictive weight loss medications we were prescribing them. When I saw my clients success with the NOYOYO program, I knew I had to start my own business so that I could truly help people end the yo-yo diet cycle and live healthier lives.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a nutritionist and coach, I specialize in clean eating and less toxic living without restrictive dieting and unsustainable expectations. I am known for making weight loss easy and finally offering a solution to people who have unsuccessfully been a part of the diet system for a long time. The NOYOYO approach differs from others in that we don’t get stuck on restrictive calorie counting and tracking macros. Instead, we take a holistic approach to you health. We focus on intuitive and mindful eating, consuming less processed meals and more fresh foods, healthy digestion, and overall healthy habits such as sleep, physical activity, and hydration, creating a tailored lifestyle change for the individual. I take the time to educate my clients about food and nutrition, which they say is priceless to them. I take the mystery and confusion from weight loss and make it simple and attainable for everyone. I am most proud of how easy my clients say reaching their goals is with NOYOYO. Readers should know that if they choose me, they will finally have that personalized attention and individualized approach to their health that they have been unable to find with traditional weight loss approaches. They will have a dedicated professional on their side, supporting them every step of the way with practical answers and solutions to their needs and problems. They should also know that they will finally be able to end the yo-yo dieting for good or prevent the cycle from happening in the first place.
I didn’t get to where I am today without some challenges. My biggest challenge has, of course, been money. A business typically takes a financial loss in its first couple of years, so to start a business, I needed my husband to support me in this venture. Without him, I would not have had the time or financial support to succeed. Another challenge I experience is finding clients. Networking and making connections in the community is vital for exposure and building trusting relationships that lead to referrals. Also, providing excellent customer service and support is critical for client referrals. I have learned that nurturing relationships with your network and clients keeps the referrals coming.
What I have learned the most from this journey is to trust God and his plan for me. There are good days and bad days when it comes to running a business. I am learning to embrace the highs and the lows and be grateful for all the opportunities God gives me to learn and grow.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Day 1: We would spend a day in Woodstock, visiting the downtown area to shop and eat. For breakfast, we would start off with a delicious smoothie or bowl at Eden. Then, we would see all the shops and take a walk down the Noonday Creek Trail. After our walk, we would grab a cup of coffee at Reeve’s house and look at the art work. For a high-end dinner experience, we would have reservations at Prime 120, and then enjoy the night life available downtown afterwards. Day 2: We would spend a day in Sandy Springs, shopping and eating at my favorite restaurants. The Brooklyn Grill has a turkey sandwich and caesar salad that hits the spot perfectly for lunch. The boutique shops are great for gifts, unique keepsakes, clothing and speciality hobbyists. Dinner would have to be at Tre Vele for fresh-made pasta and delicious Italian meals. After dinner, we would see a ballet at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.
Day 3: Another fun day would be spent visiting Cartersville and its museums, like Savoy Auto Museum and the Tellus Science Museum. Downtown Cartersville offers a variety of restaurants, and The Appalachian Grill would be our dinner spot.
Day 4: For a day of hiking and nature, I would want to head up to Rome, Georgia. Berry College offers the beautiful scenic hikes and bike trails. Shopping on Broad Street would fill the afternoon. A scratch-made dinner and a sweet potato soufflé dessert from Aventine Rome would be the perfect ending to the day.
Day 5: No trip would be complete without a day at Six Flags Over Georgia. We would leave early and get back late, exhausted and excited from all the memories made.
Day 6: We would spend the morning at the Georgia Aquarium, making sure to catch the dolphin show while we are there. For lunch, we would head over to Capella Cheese for a fresh mozzarella sandwich and other fantastic cheeses and meats to snack on. We would grab an afternoon pick-me-up coffee from East Pole Coffee Co. located directly next dood to Capella Cheese. The afternoon would be filled with boutique shopping and finally, dinner at Velvet Taco in Buckhead.
Day 7: As a local food enthusiast, we would have to spend Saturday morning at the Marietta Farmers’ Market. After getting all the produce and meat needed for a home-cooked meal that evening, we would stop at Good Kitchen and Market for a healthy and delicious brunch. An evening of cooking and sitting on the patio would be a relaxing way to spend the last evening of an amazing trip to north Georgia.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband and Jesus Christ have been my most significant source of support and encouragement. When I started my business, we had only recently moved to the Woodstock area, and I didn’t know many people or how to get my name out there. Hoping to meet like-minded people who would be supportive and encouraging to me as I first started out, I did an internet search for a “Christian networking group near me.” Woodstock Christian Business Network was at the top of the results. After pitching my business for a few weeks at the weekly WCBN meetings and doing a lot of one-on-ones, I had someone from the group approach me about working with him and his wife for weight loss coaching. This client went above and beyond to help me get referrals and meet more people. I slowly added on more and more clients until I grew into needing an office to help even more people reach their goals. I want to give a big SHOUTOUT to WCBN and the clients who gave me a chance in my early stages. WCBN has been extremely supportive, and without the wonderful people who make it up, I would not have had the connections, confidence, and encouragement to get my business up and running. Thank you to all who have helped and continue to help me in my journey.
