We had the good fortune of connecting with Fleur Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fleur, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
W-Legacy Designs is all about celebrating diversity and making every bride feel incredible on her big day, no matter her shape or size. I started this business because I noticed a gap in the market during my own wedding planning – not enough options for brides who didn’t fit the traditional mold. I wanted to change that. Every bridal robe we design and every interaction with our customers is infused with this passion for inclusivity. It’s about empowering brides to feel like the beautiful queens they are, and that’s what makes W-Legacy Designs so special.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I want the world to know that W-Legacy Designs is more than just a bridal robe brand – it’s a movement. We are committed to celebrating diversity, empowering brides of all shapes and sizes, and promoting inclusivity in an industry that has often overlooked these values. Our designs are not just about making brides look beautiful on their special day; they’re about making them feel confident, radiant, and seen. We believe that every bride deserves to feel like a queen, and we’re here to make that a reality. With W-Legacy Designs, it’s not just about the bridal robe – it’s about embracing who you are and celebrating your unique journey to love and happiness. I’ve learned patience and to give myself grace. Grace to grow and to build authentically.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Moving to the DMV has been special because it’s a big melting pot. Embarking on a week long visit there is so much to see and do. We would start with a warm welcome dinner at Old Ebbitt Grill or Founding Farmers, then marvel at the illuminated monuments on the National Mall. Dive into the city’s cultural tapestry with brunch at Le Diplomate and a day exploring the Smithsonian museums. Indulge on a food tour across diverse neighborhoods, sampling treats from Ben’s Chili Bowl to District Doughnut. Dive into history with brunch at Ted’s Bulletin before delving into Capitol Hill and Dupont Circle’s historical treasures. And we can’t forget gems in Columbia Heights and U Street, for D.C.’s vibrant culture and cuisine.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The success of W-Legacy Designs wouldn’t be possible without the unwavering support of my husband and mother, who have been the pillars of strength and the driving force behind this venture. From the very beginning, they believed in the vision and lent their endless encouragement and expertise to help bring it to life. My husband’s steadfast belief in my abilities and his willingness to take on any challenge alongside me have been instrumental in overcoming obstacles and pushing the business forward. And my mother, with her wisdom and experience, has been my guiding light, offering invaluable advice and support every step of the way. With their love and encouragement, I’m not just building a business; I’m creating a legacy. And that’s why I dedicate W-Legacy Designs to my daughter. I want her to see firsthand that with passion, dedication, and the support of loved ones, you can wear multiple hats and pursue your dreams fearlessly. By watching me navigate the challenges and triumphs of entrepreneurship, I hope to instill in her the belief that she, too, can achieve anything she sets her mind to.
