We had the good fortune of connecting with A’saph Darby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi A’saph, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My main goal is to inspire and empower others while always staying true to who I am and what I represent. In my career & as the years go by, I want to feel at peace and have the freedom to be creative, controlling the projects I work on and the people I collaborate with. Ultimately, I aim to create a legacy that supports my family [and family to come] and turns all my passions into successful, “auto-pilot” lucrative endeavors. It’s never about the money, but I do believe my gifts will make room for me, in all ways & from all facets.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m blessed to be able to say that I have a a variety of talents and passions, from crafting music to bringing stories to life on film, and so many things in between. What truly sets me apart is simply being myself. It may sound cliché, but there’s only one ME. I prioritize finding confidence in oneself and staying true to my unique style, walking confidently in it.

Creative freedom is important to me. I reject the idea of being confined to labels or categories. Being pigeonholed into a particular title, style, or genre isn’t my vibe. I strive to live authentically and spread love while creating from a place of raw emotion and desire. That’s what I hope people remember me for.

I’m excited about the journey ahead, conquering the visions I’ve set for myself. With numerous music and film projects in the in the works, I’m looking forward to seeing each vision and passion project come to fruition. I’ve been on this journey since I was extremely young, just in different ways. Looking back on it, I can say that I was being prepped for the “creative” life, a long time ago, since a kid. Being on any journey for a lengthy amount of time, will come with its fair share of challenges. Some of the biggest challenges are: being in your head too much, getting in your own way, & creative blocks. The biggest lessons I’ve learned from these, stem from the idea that you, as an individual, are responsible for your success or your failure. How your drive, dedication, & willingness to grow look, will determine which path you end up on. As far as creative blocks go, I’ve learned 4 things. 1) Sometimes you just gotta force yourself through the block. CREATE, CREATE, CREATE, until you unblock that thing has limited your creative ability. 2) Sometimes you just gotta walk away from it. Yep. You heard that correctly. Put that hammer down, turn that piano off, cut the dance studio lights off, put that script down, and chill for a bit. Decompress. And then come back to it. 60-70% of the time, it’ll flow like water, when you return. 3) Sometimes you just gotta start from scratch. Yep. 4) And the final one: Sometimes you just gotta live a little bit. Experience. They say that experience is the best teacher. Sometimes experience is that extra secret sauce that you need to help you find the lines to write for that scene you’re stuck on, or help come up with the rest of the steps for some new choreography you’re trying to come up with. All in all, sometimes you just gotta go out there and see things, so that you can see things be things. Great things. Things that you can be proud of.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oof. Lol. I must say, y’all asked the wrong person this question! Haha. No, but really. I am a homebody. Big time. Yep. I enjoy being home. But here’s the thing. Right? I enjoy going out. When I go out, I usually have a great time. But that’s usually by way of someone else leading the way and picking the “outing”. In actuality, I’m like the friend who’s rarely the one to approach the crew and say “Hey, let’s go out and do things? Ya know? Touch grass.” Don’t get it twisted. I touch grass, just…. at home. In the yard. Or on a walk around the neighborhood haha. With that being said, I like bowling and laser tag. Mini-golf is cool, too. You could even start up and nerf war and I’d be hype. enjoy walking trails. I like the idea of adventures, too. Like haunted houses/trails, abandoned buildings. (okay, this one depends LOL. Notice I said: I like the “idea” of….). And you can never go wrong with eating out, for the experience. So, looks like we’d be doing some of those things, otherwise, they’re doing the itinerary. Haha.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Big shoutout to my amazing wife, who not only pushes me forward and supports my every vision, but also brings her intelligence and brilliance into everything we do. She’s definitely my stream of discipline when I fall short in that area and I appreciate her for motivating me to stay focused, in when this journey as a creative human and entrepreneur gets hard. She’s got some incredible projects in the works, and I can’t wait to support her as she shares them with the world.
