We had the good fortune of connecting with Emanuel Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emanuel, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from Oakland, California. Bay Area, if you’re familiar. Being from the Bay is something I take pride in. My parents are from there, all my childhood best friends are still there, and it raised me. I like to believe the core of who I am when it comes to my creativity, my character attributes, and my vision, comes from being raised in the Bay.

The Bay has a tendency to attract people who genuinely want to give back. Growing up I’ve encountered a lot of adults who poured into me encouraging my creativity and talents. I’ve had a lot of people who made me feel okay with being different, and thinking different. Growing up I experienced the value of being genuine in your intentions and expression.

Today, I pride myself in being a genuine person through my artistry and everyday life. And I focus on making sure my music carries that same genuine energy. I want people I feel positive feelings when listening to my music. I want my lyrics to be relatable or real enough that it provokes thoughts that can lead to good feelings. I also believe the key to being genuine is knowing how to be free in yourself and outwardly. And I learned that freedom from growing up in the Bay. For that, I am forever grateful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Emanuel Robinson. I’m a singer, songwriter, performer. I’m entering into a phase, or era, of my artistry where I’m embracing the music I love to listen to and create. In today’s industry there’s such a need to follow trends to gain attention and a following. However, I wanna stand out and thrive in the long game of the industry. I’ve been focusing on creating more music the gets you moving, makes you feel good and motivated.

In the world of EDM, Dance Pop, House Music, black representation needs more of a stamp. Black artist are greater than RandB, Gospel, and Rap. So thats my vision and mission right now in my artistry. To find my stamp in Dance genre of the music industry. As a performer, I love to get people moving and engaged in my performances. My current tracks, Distance of Your Love and Delieverance In Disguise, have gotten a great react from listeners, so I wanna growing in that directions.

Being different in the music industry can feel lonely, because I’ve learned to remain faith and focused on what I see for myself. Because no one else can see your dreams until you show them. I want the world to fall in love with music that makes you move and feel free. I wanna be the world’s going artist for those tracks and shows.

I live by this quote, “Life is about risking everything for a dream no one can see but you”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So I moved here during the pandemic, so it took me a while to really explore around Georgia. When it comes to city ventures, I love to go to Ponce City Market on a nice sunny day with a little breeze and a few moving clouds. Grab some food, dont have a favorite spot yet but Pizza jeans was good last time I went. Then grab a drink and walk to beltline. Before a night out I love going to Rreal Tacos, they have a few locations. Get a fews tacos and a drink to give some cushion before going to dance the night away. There so much more to explore so I’d definitely go out and just see where we end up and find new things around the inner city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Any chance I can get to recognize someone in my life who has helped mold me into the person I am today, I recognize my mother. As a real mom does, she has made countless sacrifices for me. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to appreciate her more and I personally recognize what shes done for me although I don’t know everything she’s done.

When it comes to her impact on who I am as an artist, I’ve learned to not be afraid of speaking up. Also to not be afraid of being confident in what I believe for myself. This journey to achieving success, in the music industry especially, can be real drain and long. And I’m grateful for her sticking it out with me, and pushing me in ways that aint too much but just right for me to get back on track. She’s my pillar that holds me up and my main reason for going on and not even acknowledging the thought of giving up.
