Hi Germyah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Being an innovator and visionary, I aimed for something groundbreaking. I desired a brand that would influence and positively impact the lives of black and brown children striving for a better future. This remains my ultimate goal. Many individuals seek my guidance for professional advice, motivation, career growth, and crucial decision-making. Therefore, I decided to transform this into a business to reach wider audiences and empower more youth globally.

I possess numerous business concepts, yet I am highly strategic in my approach to execution and implementation. I continuously educate myself on the industry. I am constantly seeking ways to enhance my skills. Sometimes, I may hold onto a business idea for years before launching it because it must be flawless. I am a perfectionist. Whenever my name is linked to something, I aim for it to be top-notch, high-caliber, and innovative.

I strongly advocate for education. As an HBCU graduate of Texas Southern University and Morehouse School of Medicine, I will always support HBCUs and higher education. These institutions were established for black and brown students when we were not welcomed at predominantly white schools, so we must seize these opportunities. With 107 HBCUs available, there is a perfect fit for everyone!

My upcoming business will shape the future. Professional advancement and growth are central to my business. I aspire to witness more black and brown children graduating, establishing businesses, and making a difference in their communities.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The chapters of my book are continuously being written. I am always in motion. I am nearing the end and eagerly anticipate bringing my ideas to life as a Healthcare Provider.

I am meticulous in my approach. I act with purpose, armed with a plan that distinguishes me from others. I am always thinking on a grand scale! My concepts are groundbreaking and influential. I take pride in my evolution as a woman and a healthcare expert. I am evolving into the woman I have always aspired to be. She is daring, strong, influential, and exudes elegance and poise. I am enthusiastic about the prospects that lie ahead for me.

Nothing in life comes easy. Overcoming challenges requires discipline. I possess a strong spiritual faith and seek spiritual healing and guidance from Allah. Allah is the focal point of my actions. I did not grow up privileged or inherit wealth that would give me an advantage in life. I built my career from the ground up, without any handouts. Germyah Heart is solely responsible for the intellect and brand associated with it. Whenever you encounter anything related to Germyah Heart, know that it was conceived, implemented, and executed by Germyah Heart. I put in immense effort. While most people are asleep, I am awake and working.

Throughout my journey, I have learned valuable lessons: to act with purpose, find a balance between work and personal life, and understand that delays do not equate to denials. Your goals should always align with your personal beliefs and aspirations. No amount of money or recognition is worth compromising your values and objectives. The work may consume a lot of time but remember to rest and prioritize self-care. You may face rejection on your path to success but do not lose heart. What is meant for you will always find its way to you.

I have crafted three quotes: “Have a ball, but stay disciplined.” “Dress how you want to be addressed.” and my favorite one: “The greatest reward is impact, not money. The impact will bring wealth, power, and respect.”

The upcoming year of 2024 holds great significance for me. Numerous important achievements will be commemorated during this time. I am determined to achieve success and will persistently dedicate myself to my goals. Staying authentic to my roots and never losing sight of my origins is something that deeply resonates with me. Milwaukee, the time has come for us to shine!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Before we start, I would like to wish Ramadan Mubarak to all of my fellow Muslims. May Allah bless you with peace and healing throughout this sacred month.

I am fortunate to have a strong support system. My parents play a crucial role in supporting and guiding me. They are my biggest cheerleaders, always pushing me to reach my goals. My father, who is also my best friend, listens to my ideas and provides valuable input. He is quick to offer tactics and strategies to help me achieve my aspirations. On the other hand, my mother is the one who keeps me organized and thinks critically. Whenever I face challenges, she is the first person I turn to for assistance. Having such supportive parents is a blessing that I will always cherish. They are truly my best friends.

My siblings hold a special place in my heart. My younger sister is just as brilliant as me, and I strive to set a positive example for her and my niece. Knowing that they look up to me for inspiration motivates me to be the best version of myself. My brothers are also incredibly supportive and always excited to hear about my life updates. Their enthusiasm serves as an unofficial validation that I am on the right path.

My friends are amazing. They come from different stages of my life, yet I value every one of them equally. What binds us together is our shared commitment to education. Surrounding yourself with the right group of friends can be incredibly motivating. We learn from one another, support each other, and remain loyal. Above all, we always show up for each other. This is the secret to the long-lasting nature of our friendships.

From the very beginning, my family has been incredibly supportive. They remind me every day of how proud they are of me. They go above and beyond to show their support, whether it’s attending graduations, birthdays, holidays, or any other special occasion. Family means the world to me, and there is no greater feeling than having their unwavering support.

Mentors play a vital role in one’s professional growth. It is essential to choose mentors who share your values and can contribute to your career advancement and personal development. Your mentor may not necessarily belong to the same field as yours. I am fortunate to have two mentors – a certified OBGYN and an outstanding educator. Both offer valuable perspectives on career progression and self-improvement.
