We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyrsten Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyrsten, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I never thought I would have my own business. I was always the girl who wanted to climb the corporate ladder, wear bright suits, carry a big bag and boss my way around my career. Being an entrepreneur seemed like a lot of work for no guarantee of success. However, after multiple years climbing the tech ladder, I started to feel like that was a lot of work with no guarantee of happiness. I was learning that being successful doesn’t equal being happy, and I was reaching a point in my career where I felt something needed to change for my mental health.

After a lot of prayer and conversations with my closest friends and family, I left my role in tech and decided to take three months to rest and reflect. I assumed that after that I would start job hunting and find a new corporate role. But God had other plans.

During my break I started freelancing for a few local organizations and I really enjoyed it. I liked being able to control my hours and who I was working with. As I built up my client base, I realized I felt more freedom and happiness than I had in a long time. So I decided to take my freelance work full time and get my LLC. I was helping small business owners with their content marketing and business communications, so I put together a website for myself and voila! My business was officially started.

Since striking out on my own my desire has been to pursue work that allows me to honor God and serve other people. My background is in communications and I’ve found a way to use my gifts in that area to help individuals who are trying to grow their own business or develop their personal brand. It’s exciting to see their dreams come to life and fulfilling to know I played a small part in it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My goal is to empower individuals with content that will bring their brand to life. Everyone has a story to tell and it’s my job to help them tell it well. Whether one is making a career pivot, leaving corporate, or pursuing the dream they’ve carried for years – I help them build their online presence and tell their story in a way that inspires. We’re not about vanity metrics over here – I want to see real growth for my clients, so I focus on authenticity and building true connection.

You may be wondering what that looks like practically. When it comes to communications, I focus on individual and leader communications. Whether you’re working on a presentation, building up your social media feed, or looking for insight on communication patterns in business, I’ve got you covered.

Here are a few examples of the communication pieces I can empower you with:

– Thought leadership/op-eds for online publications
– Newsletter content
– Blog posts and website copy
– Social media strategy
– Processes for communication channels
– Scripts for videos and podcast content
– Talking points for a presentation or speaking engagement

With personal branding, I work with my clients to learn about their story and then craft a unique plan for sharing that story in a captivating way. Your story is your superpower and it’s my job to help you tell it well. So whether you’re just building your personal brand or taking steps to refine it, I’ll empower you to introduce the core of who you are and set you apart in a crowded world.

It hasn’t been an easy road to get to this point. My first year felt like a constant whirl of trial and error. However, after that first year I had learned so much about myself – about what I’m good at and enjoy doing, about what really works for my clients. I’m more excited now than I was when I first started because I have a clear picture of how my niche fits into the online world. It’s energizing, challenging, and fun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely my parents. I wasn’t sure how they would take the news when I told them I was going to work for myself, but their support has been steady and unwavering. I am very appreciative of that.

Also, shoutout to my small group friends who have been with me since I was still in tech, supporting me through the transition and as I grow my business. Anytime I have a rough week or am feeling low, they remind me how far I’ve come and always get me back on track. Thanks y’all!
