Meet Sandra Gallardo: Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandra Gallardo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sandra, how do you think about risk?
Risk has always been uncomfortable for me because I did not live most of my life letting myself take them in regards to career. In the times I did take leaps outside my comfort zone, I’ve always learned something that I was able to put into the bank of experiences for reference throughout the rest of my life. Trial and error is so vital in regards to really finding out what you want in what you create and on what level you want to share those creations. Adrenaline is something that sort of comes up with the fear of failure when taking a risk but it’s in the elements of logic that a decision to go for it seems to set up the environment to see the importance it can have in regards to opportunity. It’s not often I feel only one feeling because I’m spiritually pretty complex in the world of forced normality and trend. I am a big believer in the authenticity that artists (or anyone in that matter) bring to the table to share with the world. Risk has allowed me to push things from my visions and not the visions of what I think people want from me. 

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently a Marketing Coordinator for Compass Group. I have been able to take trips to NYC and Google to watch and learn how the biggest companies in the world aim their audiences. I help with promoting the food aspect of some clients in their cafes with the growing ability to reach universal audiences. I started as a Barista then weekend manager doing things I didn’t really enjoy but always spoke my mind on ideas for solutions to the problems that were within the system of how things were done around me. It has honestly been the first company that truly values my ideas and see value in them. I can think outside the box and always being able to provide a fresh eye to materials that others might have been working and looking at for too long to miss smaller details. Eventually getting to a marketing position, now earning an income and schedule that allows me to do what I truly love doing on my free time. Eyewander Stories is a non-profit vision I have for an organization that helps with highlighting businesses and people within communities. One of the things I always tell others is that it might take a lot of unpleasant jobs to get to where you want to be and sometimes you have to work a job that doesn’t take your passion in consideration so that you can find the resources you might need in order to do what feeds your soul. My goal is to earn and save money to get more gear and eventually travel and spend more time on bigger productions and ideas. I have done realty photography to help me earn money for gear and continuously see the value in picking up non-ideal gigs to get me steps closer to manifesting what I want and feel purpose in.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My father for sure has always been a catalysis for me to have access to camera gear and the ideas he always shared to widen my perceptive on possibilities and why they’re possible. With my mother, I was younger and always encouraged to express my imagination and emotions freely which always carried on into my adult life in really allowing my authentic self to shine through and care less of what people thought and gravitate towards people who genuinely wanted to communicate about my creations and ideas. Girls Rock Camp ATL was the first project I worked on that opened doors for me in regards to what kind of clients to reach out to and that community based groups was where I felt the more natural and needed. There are plenty personal shout outs in regards to friends that have always dropped everything they were doing to listen to my long shot ideas and short and long term scattered passionate visions. They know who they are because they’ve always been on my speed dial to bounce ideas off of because they genuinely want to listen and always like what I come up with because they can visualize it with me. Right now I had the honor to gain a mentor, Todd Bailey, who has taken me under his wing in regards to how to network up here in the north. It’s different because they are more guarded up here with free offers from a videographer that never went to school for video who just wants to do it for free. He has been able to speak in terms I understand and also give constructive criticism in a way where my pride isn’t bruised and better yet more motivated.
