We had the good fortune of connecting with Barbara Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Barbara, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by helping people to build up their confidence. I also encourage people and let them know that they can reach whatever goals they set when they increase their confidence.

Another thing that inspires me is to help those who have lost hope and who are suffering and those who think that they cannot succeed in life because they have been struggling. I must say that I have a lot of empathy and compassion for those who are going through trials and tribulations. One of the things which inspired me was when my mother was going through dementia. I had the courage and the strength to deal with the dementia that she was facing. One thing was that I didn’t give up even in the most difficult times. Because I have gone through that with my mom I want to encourage others to not give up even in the most difficult times. You must continue to move and focus on whatever you need to be doing. I was inspired when my siblings and I were taking care of our mother to write a book for caregivers.

I am also inspired because I am learning so many new things in technology. I am inspired by my coach Patricia Mahone because I have set goals and I am now fulfilling those goals with the help of my coach. I am so excited and encouraged by my growth and it has allowed me to inspire and help others.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a ministry in Atlanta Georgia as well as in Mississippi. Our ministries in both locations are community based. This work involves working with the unhoused, feeding those that need food, clothing those who are in need of clothing, and assistance to those who need help with rent, mortgage, as well as utilities. I am excited when things go on in one location, our other location lends a helping hand to support the other ministry.

With the grace of God and the help of others, I am where I am today in ministry. I have been able to minister in many places, provide disaster relief to hundreds of families in multiple states, and show the love of God everywhere I travel. This path has not been easy. One of the ways I have overcome the difficulties of my assignment is by understanding my WHY. When things get hard for me, I realize that other people are far worse off than me. I always remain grateful of what I have and want to be a blessing to others. Having a grateful heart makes things easier.

Along this journey, I have learned to show myself the same grace that I extend to others. I have learned to enlist the help of others to fulfill the assignment on my life. I have learned to take care of myself while serving others. I have learned that I can do way more than I ever thought I could. I learned to believe in myself. I have learned to set healthy boundaries. I have learned to encourage myself. I have learned to pray and walk by faith so when things look out of control I know that everything will be alright.

I want the world to know that this ministry started small, but now has a global impact. Never negate your small beginnings. Your business, ministry, or organization will grow and have a positive impact on the world if you stay focused on why you started in the first place. Things will get hard but never give up on yourself or your dream.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like to visit Lake Spivey because I love to walk and see all the different scenes. There is a beautiful lake there and I love to sit by the water and meditate and experience the calmness and the still water. Not only am I experiencing the beauty and calmness of the lake, but I am also spending quiet time with the Lord and physically taking care of myself.

Some places I like to eat are Baybreeze Seafood, Hannah Studio, and Twisted Taco,

I like to visit Calloway Garden in Pine Mountain Ga. when I want to relax and get away from the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was inspired when my siblings, Mary, Nathaniel, Joe, and myself were taking care of our mother. This encouraged me to write a book for caregivers.

I want to thank the donors for donating to my organization during our crisis relief projects. We were able to assist so many families because of the generous donations from our donors.

I would like to thank Pastor Lawrence Reeves, Bishop C. L. Carter Sr. & Co-Pastor Carter, Apostle Victoria Burse, and others ministries leaders and ministries who have partnered with us.

I would like to thank my husband, Louis Green, and our children Vandale, Ortagus, and Terrence for their support.
