We had the good fortune of connecting with Juice & Self and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juice & Self, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is actually a small portion of a song. But to answer appropriately we’ll have to have a quick “story time”.

During the last 7 days of my grandmother’s life here on earth, she took time every day to look at us and say, “God bless the child that has his own.” Now, I’d heard those words in a song, but during her final days, they carried a weight far beyond the lyrics.

Watching her fade away made me rethink what truly matters. She left behind everything. Her clothes, her fancy suits, her designer bags she even left her Bibles and her blessed oil,

As I (along with the rest of the family) stood by her side, I realized she wasn’t just talking about material things. She was talking about resilience, about having something inside you that no one can take away and those words hit me hard, like a wake-up call.

At that moment, I understood that life isn’t about the stuff you own. It’s about the love you give, the faith you hold, and the family you cherish. So when she took her last breath, I made a promise to myself. I wanted to build something real, something that mattered – and not just something that mattered to me but that mattered and would impact others.

That’s why my husband and I started our coaching company. It’s not just about the music; it’s about helping others find their path and their own resilience. It’s about turning struggles into strength and setbacks into stepping stones. It’s about saying, “I got this” even when the odds are totally stacked against you.

So yeah, “God bless the child that has his own” is more than lyrics and more than a quote now. We like it simply because it reminds us to keep pushing, striving, and building.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Ceo Self Coaching is dedicated to coaching music and creative entrepreneurs. We have weekly group coaching sessions in our online community called The Crash and we also offer a 15 week music business course called FIMM Academy. What truly sets us apart is our focus on mindset development “first” which is often put in the backseat when it comes to career progression. Another thing that sets up apart is our hands-on approach. Our courses and sessions are not “go at your own pace” or pre-recorded. They’re live and/or in-person. So our “Rhino’s” as we call them, get us (Juice + Self) every single time! We even show up to our clients events, shows, whatever…If we can get there, we will be there.

In the music industry or any creative industry for that matter, it’s common for everything else to take precedence – the music, the money, the virality, the big house the fancy car, etc… We focus on the actual person behind the mic or the canvas. There’s a lack of support for artists navigating the complexities of fame, financial success, and the day-to-day grind of creative work.

My journey alongside my husband, who was deeply immersed in the music industry as a recording artist, songwriter, and producer, led us to start our own publishing company and record label. Through the highs and lows, we experienced firsthand the challenges and hardships of entrepreneurship in the creative realm. I mean, we faced more bumps than a dirt road and learned enough lessons to fill a library.

Looking back, having someone who’d been there, done that in this music industry, would have been a game changer for us. You get a rude awakening when you go out into the world of entrepreneurship alone For that reason, Ceo Self Coaching was born. We’re filling the void and offering real comprehensive support to artists, writers, and creators who have decided to walk out on this entrepreneurial journey.

Our mission is simple: We’re helping creatives to live healthy, live wealthy, dream big, succeed, become, and chase their destiny without losing their mind along the way. We’re doing this by providing a safe space where they can leverage our insights and expertise to thrive in their careers and vent when they need to.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For a week long stay this is how it would go.

Monday: We’d start our day with breakfast at Atlanta Breakfast Club the morning after they get in town. Then we’d head up to North GA for a wine tasting and lunch at Cavender Creek Winery. They have amazing wine slushies. On the way back we will stop in Decatur and go to Las Brasas for some Peruvian food. To make sure we have food and wine for a home-cooked meal game night the next day, we’d go to Dekalbs Farmer’s Market, they have the freshest herbs, spices, seafood, coffee and wine in Metro. Plus it’s just a dope place to go.

Tuesday: I live on the West Side of Atlanta so we would definitely have to go to Blue Rose on Veterans Memorial Drive for Brunch. Then we’ll go for a hike at Sweet Water State Park. Afterwards, we go back to my house and get ready for game night. I’d cook whatever food we bought back from the Farmer’s Market which would probably be something that can go on the grill. We’d invite d some of our other couple friends over and we would enjoy some good food and fun games.

Wednesday: This day would be pretty chill. We’d for sure have to hang out at Krog Street Market and then walk the belt line. We’d grab whatever food looks good in the meantime. We’d end the day going to an open mic or something.

Thursday – Saturday: Road Trip!!! We’re gonna do a 2-night stay in Savannah. We’d get our bad and boujie on and have dinner at Garibaldi in the historic district after spending the day at the beach on Jekyll Island. We’d do one of the haunted tours eat at a few of the mom and pop places and walk the strip.

Saturday morning we’re back on the road so our friends can make their 6am flight on Sunday morning.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shoutout is dedicated to my mom (Sophie L Vargs) and my grandmother (Judy H Moss). They passed in 2021 & 2020. I wouldn’t be me if it weren’t for them.
