We had the good fortune of connecting with Avery On The Beat and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Avery On The Beat, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
This is a long game and you have to be patient and persistent at the same time. Even though you might have one or two big records out, you always have to go back to the drawing board and figure out what’s next. You have to constantly change up how you are doing things and start to be more efficient with your time and what you put energy into.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think would sets me apart from others from what I’m seeing now the way I know how to identify what can get placed with an artist. Every time I hear a record from somebody else or a beat even I’ve always had luck getting it from Point A to B. I’ve always found that when I am not attached to a piece of work it is easier for me to find where it is able to be placed rather than beats I might’ve made that I’ve heard 50 times over. With that said, a lot of my relationships have actually came from connecting dots for other people.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I encourage all of my friends coming to Atlanta from out of town to go to JJS Fish and Chicken at least once. There is a story behind JJ‘s.. when me and my friend Cartier Curry were coming up and doing 12 hours studio sessions every day we always would end up starving at random times. We ended up finding this chicken spot. We went there and we got our order and that first bite was crazy. This day it’s probably my favorite chicken spot ever. Something about that sprinkle

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I was coming up, there was a music producer in my area that I looked up to on the way up. He goes by the name of “Eskay” He was the first producer with accolades that I’ve came accross and was the first person to show me how to get into the doors of producing for more artists.. He was more than open to breakdown his process of the time, and also show me how to move around different ideas, especially when it came to recording an artist in the studio. Another honorable mention would be my guy Bricks Da Mane, he also played a big part on my way up as far as the industry side was concerned. Bricks was always an open book to me when it came to advise and how to network and build relationships with people. So I am grateful for them both
