Indigoz Shoes was developed by market research, everyday living, and the want to provide a solution to a problem. The market research I did was simple, from observing people walking around and participating in different events from social to corporate we notice that people complained a lot about their shoes whether the shoes were designer or not, not being comfortable after a certain period of time, and what was noticed was the poor structure of the shoes and it not being made to be comfortable. I also noticed while living my everyday life and working at Nordstrom that people always asked for a shoe that was stylish but also comfortable and because the selections were minimal in the designer looks I had to always go a size up in their shoe size just for the shoe to be half way comfortable. With that being said Indigoz Shoes became a solution to a problem, providing innovative designer looks, that had the maximum comfort provided by our specialty insoles with arch boosters that we are patent pending on. Ashley Akins | Enamel Pin Maker

During the Covid-19 pandemic I started collecting enamel pins for fun. I discovered other Black creatives over time with the same interest and began falling in love with the different designs and details of each one I came across. Over time I would look for something particular from my childhood and realized “Hey that pin doesn’t exist.” I would get upset and hoped someone else would create it until one day I asked myself, “Why don’t you make it?” I knew I wanted to incorporate 90’s and 00’s nostalgia, sprinkled with some Black Girl Magic, but overall things that represented me. From there The Nostalgic Place was born and the rest is history. I’ve even added a candle line called Saturday Morning Cartoons that currently includes candles and wax melts that smell like Fruity Pebbles. the idea for my business came about through me watching my mother growing up she was putting events together and working with the community! She also had K97.5 with Brian Dawson and DJ Wade Banner come out to an event we had in McDougall Terrace. My mom put this big block party together Shawty was dope.
