My favorite quote is from Nelson Mandela, “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” This quote has been my mantra as I’ve faced challenges, it helps to drown out any doubts. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the magnitude of an idea once you’ve made the decision to get started. When you look at the big picture, what it’ll take to make your vision come to life, many people succumb to that overwhelming feeling and they give up before they even start. The best advice I can give to anyone feeling that way is to lean in to it, let the fear motivate you to take the necessary steps. Once you get going you’ll realize that your goal is entirely possible and one day you’ll arrive at a certain point and be able to look back and say… “wow, I did that.” Read more>>

“You have to be odd to be number one.” This quote reminds me to stay true to my authentic essence. No matter how awkward or weird I can be, the only way I can honor myself and my career is to be honest to who I am. If I do that, God will put me into the position to succeed. Read more>>

A cherished affirmation I’ve recited since childhood is: “Yes, I have a disability, but my disability doesn’t have me. Sickle Cell will never define who I am.” Sickle Cell is a genetic disease that results in “sickled” red blood cells, impeding proper blood flow and causing oxygen deficiency, leading to painful crises. Growing up, people often highlighted my limitations, unintentionally creating a perceived ceiling on my potential. Most sickle cell warriors I encountered were in hospitals or emergency rooms, fighting crises. It took me twenty-one years to meet someone who defied the odds with sickle cell. This affirmation emerged to remind me that I can achieve anything I set my mind to. Read more>>

“Happiness is a choice” Embracing happiness amidst the unexpected twists and turns of life has been a journey of self-discovery. It’s easy to get caught up in the belief that external circumstances dictate our well-being. We often measure our happiness by the presence of material possessions, career success, or the status of our relationships. However, I’ve come to realize that true happiness lies within us, waiting to be tapped into, regardless of external circumstances. My decision to prioritize happiness has taught me the importance of resilience and adaptability. Life is inherently unpredictable, and adversity can strike at any moment. Read more>>

My favorite quote actually comes from my mother. When I was a little girl, my mother use to always tell me that “if the worst case scenario is that someone’s going to say no, go for it.” She never wanted me to miss a possible opportunity due to fear of rejection. That has always been huge for me because it really simplifies things and puts things into perspective. As artists and entrepreneurs, we can get so wrapped up in fear of rejection and the word “no,” that we can talk ourselves out of great things and stunt our own growth. That quote from my mom has helped me to push myself. and to go for things, even if I don’t know how. Read more>>
