We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamra Wade and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamra, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Compared to other careers with similar earnings potential, it’s relatively easy to become a real estate agent or broker. There are many perks, too, like being your own boss, meeting new people, and helping people through one of life’s biggest milestones. However, achieving success in real estate and growing a team and a brokerage is not a walk in the park.

The pivotal decision that significantly fueled my success, aside from the choice to jump into real estate, was embracing a growth mindset. Early in my career, I realized that continuous learning and adaptability were essential in the ever-evolving landscape of our industry. I committed myself to a mindset that views challenges as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles. I have always said and will always stand by – “Where there’s a will, there’s a way!”

I began my career as a New Home Specialist in 1999 with a large, successful private home builder and grew my knowledge to earn the position of a New Home Sales Manager, closing approximately 1600 homes per year. The challenges I have overcome and the knowledge I have gained in the new homes arena have made me a better resale real estate broker as well and, in turn, made me a better coach for my brokerage. The techniques of prospecting, demonstrating, closing, marketing, and follow-up are interchangeable between new home sales and resale sales, therefore giving myself and those that I coach the tools necessary to be successful.

The decision to cultivate a growth mindset has not only propelled my success as a broker, coach, and leader but has also been instrumental in fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within my staff, realtors, and the builders that we work with. It has proven to be the cornerstone of my entrepreneurial journey, propelling both personal and professional accomplishments. I am proud of taking the leap of faith into real estate 24 years ago and look forward to more challenges that will make me a better person and broker.
