We had the good fortune of connecting with Dani Fiondella and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dani, how do you think about risk?
I think taking risks is a large part of pursuing any career and in life in general. Partly because you always have to be an advocate for yourself, which can be challenging. You have to be willing to take measured risks towards achieving your goals and realize risk means you don’t always win. The best thing you can hope for is to learn along the way. Risk has played a huge role for me personally as I made life and career decisions that gave me time to hone in on my craft and industry focus. It put other things temporarily on hold, but it gave me time to grow personally and professionally for which I am extremely grateful.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of the things that I write about in my book and continue to practice, is ‘you can be more than one thing’. I’m very proud of the different areas of my creativity that I have explored. We are complex and multi-dimensional beings, especially with creativity. I’ve made it a mission to never box myself in so that I don’t limit opportunities for myself whether that is opportunities for my work, to collaborate and meet new people or simply to be educated through experience. That is something I am very proud to prioritize and am thankful to work in a place where my individuality is appreciated and surrounded by a support system that celebrates it as well.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
1. I’d spend a whole day down in Old Fourth Ward… enjoying coffee, bookstores, shopping and amazing places to eat. Especially on a fall day in Atlanta, it’s a perfect place to spend time. 2. Our big adventure would be shark diving at the Georgia Aquarium! It is absolutely incredible.
3. I would amiss to not take a friend to the Fox Theatre. I’ve been there many, many times.
4. Lastly, going down to Little Five Points and the Vortex is an Atlanta tradition. There is so much art and creativity in Little Five Points, it’s brilliant.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been very fortunate to have an amazing support system in everything. My parents, family and friends truly have been the foundation for which I have grown. Thank you!
