We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Grindle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in Atlanta, then migrated to the North Georgia area over the course of time. My dad is a retired pastor, so we moved a few times. So being in the ministry, you learn early on about service and having a giving heart. I have always been a people person. I love getting to know someone and what makes them tick. It is very interesting seeing who they are, where they come from, etc. I started in a beauty shop as a shampoo girl, this lead me into a cosmetology career. One of my favorite times in my career I worked between 2 assisted living homes doing weekly shampoo sets, cuts, color and perms. I had a lot of “extra” grandparents that I grew to love so much! I would sit and listen to them tell me so many stories about their past. I learned a lot of history that wasn’t in a text book! Those moments will be cherished always.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always been a creative, maybe more like imaginative person. I could fantasize about all things growing up. Making something out of nothing. And when I started as a shampoo girl as a teenager, those creative juices started to flow. It was the 80s so there was a lot going on in the beauty and fashion sense! I started in my career at 19, I was going to take over the world. The reality of being an adult was really my challenge. My biggest obstacle was me, if i could not get it perfect, I was hard on myself. I am not a quitter, but I had to learn the hard way to believe in myself. Above all, I am now my biggest cheerleader. If I put my mind to it, I am going to accomplish my goal. No matter how long it takes, there really is no time table.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a life long resident of Georgia, there are so many places to see. In Atlanta, there is the aquarium that is cool. Stone Mountain park has always been fun. I’ve enjoyed it since I was little. The classic Varsity restaurant, as you walk in to place your order, “What’ll ya have?” is being yelled which used to scare me when I was young! Then there is where I live currently in Gainesville with Lake Lanier that has plethora of activities from which to choose. Also, the mountain town of Helen that brings the old village Germany vibe with super yummy funnel cakes! And tubing on the Chattahoochee river in the summer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well, first off I would never be where I am without the good Lord’s love and direction I have had in my life! I could never be truly ME! I have also had some great mentors throughout my career. My very first is Shirley Pethel. She sparked my love of making you always feel pretty. Whoever sat in your chair, it was your job to elevate their true beauty. And this is something I use every day to encourage and uplift all my clients 30 plus years later. Another mentor I totally respect is Carla Ricciardone. She is an all around guru in the PMU world!
