We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Carr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Crystal, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Never stop dreaming and never let anything get in the way of your dreams. You know the dreams that take you away has a child, the ability to see yourself as whatever it was you wanted to be when asked “what do you want to be when you grow up”. Truly never letting go of that ability. No matter how stressful things get, how logical you are told to be in this world. I never stopped being a dreamer. Those dreams allowed me to think BIG, allowed me to sacrifice, allowed me to envision start to finish the success of my brand and to GO GET the things that were destined for me. I always felt that if I could experience it with almost all of my senses… its already mine.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m incredibly passionate about my role as a talent manager, and what sets me apart is my unwavering dedication to the artists, songwriters, DJs, record producers, content creators, and influencers I represent. I believe that nurturing talent goes beyond just the business side; it’s about fostering creative growth, supporting personal development, and ensuring the unique voices of my clients shine through.
My journey to where I am today has been a challenging yet rewarding one. It certainly wasn’t easy. I started out in the industry with little more than a dream and a strong desire to make a difference. I faced numerous hurdles, from the fierce competition to the ever-evolving landscape of the entertainment industry. However, my pivot was the belief that I had to have in myself, the belief my clients had in me (truly seeing me in ways I didn’t see in myself) and putting forth many sacrifices. But these challenges only fueled my determination.
One of the most significant lessons I’ve learned is the importance of adaptability. The entertainment industry is constantly changing, from the rise of streaming platforms to the impact of social media. Staying ahead of the curve and being open to new ideas and technologies has been crucial.
Networking has also played a pivotal role in my journey. Building strong relationships with industry professionals, artists, and creatives has opened doors and created opportunities that I could never have anticipated. It’s essential to surround yourself with people who share your passion and vision.
Above all, what I want the world to know about me and my brand is that we’re not just about business transactions; we’re about creating meaningful connections and helping artists and creators achieve their dreams. I’m proud of the success stories I’ve been a part of, from discovering hidden talents to helping established artists reach new heights. My brand is synonymous with integrity, creativity, and a genuine commitment to the artists I work with. I’m going to get the job DONE. One thing I always have to remember is to take your emotions out of it.
In a nutshell, my journey has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, but the unwavering belief in my clients and the lessons I’ve learned along the way have been invaluable. I’m excited about the future, the opportunities it holds, and the incredible talent I’ll continue to support and nurture.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hmmm… I’m originally from Los Angeles but I’ll respond for LA and Atlanta is that fair. Its going to be a black shade moment all week. I wish Blacksmiths was still open In Los Angeles as this was my favorite spot but since its not I would say we are definitely hitting Philippe Chow or TAO. Its not a trip to LA with me if we do not get street tacos and Sonoran hot dogs in Hollywood ( literally) or we can just hit Ramonas or Tams. Lastly when it comes to food I would definitely hit one of my private chef freinds none other than Chef Josh Johns or Chef E Dubble.
For Drinks and to hangout Hyde on Sunset, The Association ( Tequila Tasting) , Barton G, ( definitely going to need an IV drip after this trip or BC Powder), Lalaland cafè
Places to visit, Im going to my grannies house, we can hike Runyon Canyon, the beach and shopping down melrose for some of the most exclusive boutiques and if we’re feeling up to it Bev. Hills, Majorwavez Lab to create some custom shoes, we may also end up in a studio session and maybe a hangar to view some of the jets. and One LA Church ( Amen)
In Atlanta I would not be the person to take someone out on the city… for food I would have to say Trap Wings ATL, Pasha,( one of mine and my best friends fav spots) and Steak Market. As far as drinks The James Room and JoJo’s Beloved always has really good craft cocktails and City Winery. The High Museum was actually a really great and LIVE experience and Red Martini ( R&B Wednesdays). I’m sure there’s some other places im missing. We’ll get a better tour guide…
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As I reflect on my journey as a Talent Manager, I want this article to be timeless as there are names I can mention and many names to come. I find myself overwhelmed with a profound sense of gratitude and pride. It has been an incredible privilege to work with such an array of talented individuals, and I am humbled by the trust each of them have placed in me. I want to take a moment to express my deepest appreciation for the opportunity to guide and nurture your careers. I wouldn’t be able to hold the title as a talent manager without any of the talent I’ve been blessed to represent.
