Meet Sistas With Businesses | African American Women Entrepreneurs

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sistas With Businesses and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sistas With, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Mission Statement:
Members of SWB Strive to Empower All Women, Especially Women of Color, to seek and follow their
natural desire to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors that speak to their talents at all levels; to develop
their God given abilities to their fullest potential; Equipping them to excel as Leaders in Business,
Community and across all Spheres of Society

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets SWB apart from others is that we are a collective Group of individual Women, that come together with varying business formats but collectively take pride in helping in the community and learning from one another as we grow. We have worked together to support our community through: Christmas fundraiser for single Moms, Turkey drives, Project Prom-way and countless other partnered community events.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We originated in Dekalb County and take pride in our roots, so we would start in The City of Decatur, which is very cultural and has good daytime activities. Next, Stonecrest-Georgia “Black Wall Street” in Lithonia, GA. We would then go to East Atlanta Village where you can always find good drinks, good vibes, great energy and the amazing East Atlanta Thai. We would go to all the great Black History cultural sites including but not limited to: King Center, Civil Rights Museum, Historic Auburn Ave etc. We would need to visit the best soulfood places like: Big Daddy’s & The Beautiful, in Southwest Atlanta. We would be sure to highlight all the locations that represent the true south and who we are; because that is what shapes and gives strength to our entrepreneurship spirit. We are aware that historically such locations were based on necessity. We believe that knowing where our people started in the South and creating black based businesses out of community need is the core of our community and who we strive to emulate through our business ventures.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We are inspired by the strong black female influences in our families and community. They include our Mothers, Teachers, Spiritual Leaders and numerous Women of Color that inspire us daily.
