We had the good fortune of connecting with Quiana Curry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quiana, what principle do you value most?

If I had to choose one principle that matters most to me it would be honesty. I believe in being an honest person to a fault. What I’m thinking will be easily seen on my face! If you ask my honest opinion, I will give it. I don’t believe in sugar coating the truth. The truth is the truth!

I carry this over to Butter By Q. We are upfront with the ingredients in our products. When we say it is an all-natural product, that is the truth! When we show pictures of the manufacturing process and tell our customers we make these products by our own hands — it’s the truth. When I tell customers our ingredients can help with a multitude of skin issues, that is the truth.

The one thing I love about this principle is I don’t have to remember what I told you. If I’m always truthful I will tell you the same thing twice. Honesty, in my opinion, is what builds trust in a brand. Once a customer trusts your brand, then, the value will come.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

My education is in Marketing. As a little girl I recall watching the movie “Boomerang” and thinking to myself I wanted to create jingles for commercials or create advertisements for large corporations. My dream for the longest was to be the VP of Marketing for Procter & Gamble.

Well, after graduating college, I ended up at a manufacturing facility. I was literally wearing a hard hat and steel toed shoes. This was nowhere near what I had dreamed of as a little girl, but here I was, and I decided to make the most of the situation.

I ended up in Supply Chain. I have experience with domestic and export shipping and managing large volumes in multiple warehouses globally as well as understanding the manufacturing side.  Throughout my professional career, I always tried to use my Marketing skills in some shape or form.

What I didn’t know and I’m probably still learning, is how the path I took prepared me to be able to manufacture, ship and market products for my own brand, Butter By Q. The road was never easy. There were always bumps in the road. When I became too comfortable in a professional role, I knew I had to make a change. I had to learn something different. The change wasn’t easy, it was always uncomfortable, but I can look back on those changes and I have appreciation for where I stand today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of the best times I’ve had in the city recently involved going to the AT&T Lindbergh Center in Brookhaven. We went to the 26 Thai Kitchen & Bar followed by a concert at the State Bank Amphitheatre At Chastain Park. The food was good, the vibe at the restaurant was awesome. Chastain Park is a great idea on any day and the concert was awesome.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
