We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Smiley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Literally everything, no risk there’s no reward, I’ve learned early on no’s will eventually turn into a yes, hustling for what u want feels the best vs. A hand out

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a dj/music producer, I pride myself on making sure everyone has a great time if it’s from playing a throwback song that triggers a great memory from their past or playing something that takes their mind off the struggles of life, that’s a joy for me, seeing people having a great time is a enough for me(the money too), how I got to where I’m at today is very simple….Talking to people, asking questions, not being afraid or hurt over a “no”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ok let’s see, sunday I would start out with brunch maybe @toast on Lenox or maybe come to @Goodword Brewing(hear some tunes by me) Monday i would take a day just to sightsee the city then come down to downtown Decatur @cometpubandlanes for bowling, tunes and trivia, Tuesday I probably would rest a little then head back over to downtown Decatur to @TheImperialDecatur to enjoy good drinks and food Wednesday is Wine Down Weds @Gwen Tjajz in Duluth, Thrusdays I would go to @Newrealmatlanta on the Beltline to enjoy 90s hip hop on the rooftop Friday and Saturday I’d hangout @Brewbog Brewing company on the Beltline as well

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and Foremost G.O.D with him non of this is possible, secondly my family, lastly anybody that has taken a chance on me by giving me a opportunity to express a good time thru playing music or creating it
