We had the good fortune of connecting with Tangie Olayiwola and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tangie, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I grew up in a two parent household, but I still felt like something was missing. My father taught me a lot about life and how to be street smart. Mom taught me how to be a lady. However, there was other things that I needed to know that I feel like they looked over. I needed to know more about financial literacy and personal development. As I got older I went through a lot of trial and errors that I feel like could have been avoided if I was given the proper preparation. I went on to have daughters myself and I knew I didn’t want them to have to figure out important keys to life on their own. I knew the schools wasn’t going to teach life’s essentials with passion so it sparked an interest in me to step up even more. That interest was confirmed once a few of my daughter’s friends expressed the same concerns. Parents truly need a good support system to help propel our children into a bright future. That’s when Secret K Nation was started.

What should our readers know about your business?
I got to where I am today simply by being resilient and bold. Even when I faced adversity I knew to keep praying and pushing. Most people run from anything to do with teenagers yet along girls. I felt it was my purpose especially since I have 5 girls of my own. It definitely wasn’t easy. I’ve had people try to sabotage my business. I’ve even had family issues try to hinder my grow. Each time these obstacles hit me I had to remember my why. I’m doing this for the girls who don’t have that village to feel in the gap and help them stay on the right track. Secret K Nation is a mentoring program but what sets us apart is the one on one coaching we offer each girl. We take the time out to get to know their strengths and weaknesses. My team consist of professional yet down to Earth women who can connect with our girls. The K stands for knowledge because the topics we focus on such as social media retention, financial literacy, etiquette, and personal development just to name a few are not highlighted in the schools and no one is talking about these principal issues. SKN is also a social club. We have monthly outings and daily group chats to check in with our girls on a regular basis. We connect them with other positive like minded individuals who are trying to excel in life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would say visit STK Atlanta if your looking for a place to eat. Their steaks are mouth watering and the whole scenery is definitely a vibe. If your bringing your family you have to visit the Ga Aquarium and Centennial Olympic Park. The downtown area always has something going on and its full of culture.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my father. He instilled greatness in me. He taught me to have tunnel vision and not to ever give up on my dreams. I watched him be resilient through so many obstacles in his life. In his later years he became an successful actor. This is what encourages me to keep going. Although he is no longer here, I know he would be proud of the woman I’ve become and what my organization stands for. I would also like to shout out my daughters and my husband for being my biggest support system. By the way, any artist looking for game changing beats follow Really Rezily on Instagram.
