We had the good fortune of connecting with Ivy Motes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ivy, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I first started my business I would take on any session I possible could to get my name out there, but as time has passed I value my home time with my family and kids. I love my job and love capturing your precious little ones, but making sure I stick to my business hours has definitely helped manage both work and home life better.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a specialized newborn photographer located in Toccoa, Georgia! I offer not only newborns, but Maternity, milestones and cake smash sessions. I have a studio where I collect all the precious props, bonnets, tiebacks and wraps to build a gorgeous gallery for my clients. The biggest accomplishment business wise for me would be this and being featured in several magazines with my work. I love being able to be creative and build galleries that I know my clients will love years to come. Getting to where I’m at today hasn’t always been easy, but I didn’t ever give up. I’ve taken several mentorships throughout the years and I learned the style that I love and what I wan’t to be able to offer to my clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We live in a small town, but there’s so many hidden diamonds in our small town. I would say start your morning off at the Roaster’s Attic for some awesome breakfast and coffee which is owned by one of the sweetest girls ever, Oliva. Then we would go get our nails done at Nails Care and Spa where they give the best pedicures. For lunch we would go to R and R prime which is located at our historical downtown. It’s such a pretty view and so many good small shops to shop at once we are done with lunch. We have Currahee mountain which is a beautiful view to see too!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I couldn’t do what I do today if it wasn’t for my husband. Levi has gone above and beyond to make sure I succeed as a newborn photographer. He’s always gone above and beyond to help when he can. He’s always ready to build a set up, prop, or help around the house during the busy season. I wouldn’t have my studio I do today if it wasn’t for Levi. When we decided it was time to make the jump to a studio space Levi never turned down building one so I can be close to home. We spent every afternoon and weekends for months building the studio just how I wanted it. Another person I would like to recognize is Jessica Hodge with Elegant Jayde Photography. She’s always been a phone call away when I needed to ask her something or just someone to boost me up. She’s been a true friend in this photography world. She makes sure I know my value and I charge what I’m worth. A huge thanks to my family too! They have been so supportive and always are ready to help me when I need an extra hand.
