We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaiah White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isaiah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My shift from elementary to middle school was the first of many events that have had an impact on my creative career. In elementary school, all I could think about was attending the same school as my pals. I had to be accepted into the performing arts program in order to attend General Ray Davis Middle School because most of my friends wanted to go there. Because my mother is an excellent photographer, I made the decision to study in photography because I assumed it would be simple. Fast-forwarding to the present, I was eventually admitted to the Visual Arts program. Sincerely, I had no intention of studying photography seriously when I originally enrolled, but as the course progressed and I learned all the many things I would be able to produce, I began to fall in love with photography. As my interest in photography and other visual arts grew, I began stepping out on my own to try my hand at sports photography, portraits, family shots, and other types of photography. I was using a Canon EOS Rebel T6, which was a beginner camera, at the time. I began honing my photographic talents with this camera and began putting myself in a variety of locations as I built my portfolio.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I personally feel like I am a diverse person when speaking about photography. I say this because there aren’t many photographers that I have come in contact with that know how to do things like sports, portraits photography relating to lights, and all different sorts of things which in a way sets me apart from other photographers, being diverse within the field of photography. Most recently, I have become proud of the progression, positivity, and support, I have gotten from the people in my community, always helping me grow to be my best self in photography and regarding to my personal health. I got to where I’m at today professionally because of my drive and determination as a human being as well as the support from my family, friends and people I’ve meet through photography, and I wouldn’t say this journey I have been on since the 6th grade wasn’t easy. My main challenge was getting noticed by others and just overall getting started with photography. I’ve overcome this challenge by doing what I do best and that’s having confidence in myself and my skills no matter what anyone had to say that was negative. So far throughout my photography career, I have learned many different lessons, which include learning the importance of communication, having a price list for all the different shoots I do, and lastly to never give up no matter the situation. The main thing I want people around the world to know about me is I’m Isaiah Kariel White Jr, currently 17 years old and I run a business called Kariel Picture Studios (KPS). I’m an entrepreneur that loves taking pictures and If you’re anything like me, you love and always think about saving memories. If this applies to you, don’t worry—I’ve got you covered! I aim to provide you with the finest deals and prices, high-caliber services, enjoyable interactions, and on-time delivery of your purchases. Please get in touch with me if you need anything.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If one of my friends that I haven’t seen in a very long came down to visit, I would have something planned for us to do every day. On the first day of my friends visit, I would take my friend to meet my very close friends. Give my old friend a chance to make even more friends and just to overall connect with people, in this case my friends. In the process of my old friend meeting my new friends, I would use that day as an introduction day also meaning I would show them the area and a couple things that I do for fun around Conyers Georgia. The next day, which would be the second day, I would take my friend bowling because that is something I really enjoy. I would also invite my friends to tag along with us so they can have a great time as well. As time passes at the bowling alley, I would probably order some pizza for my group of friends, and I would decide to have a nice drink of sprite to go along with my pizza. Of course, while a good time at the bowling alley, I would take plenty of pictures to savior the memories. The next activity I would plan to do, which would be the third day, can probably be to go on a trail. This would be a time for just us two to catch up on each other’s lives currently and potentially talk about the future. In the process of all that, we would both be enjoying the outdoor fresh air while also appreciating nature. On the fourth day I would go to a local park and play basketball. Basketball is my favorite sport that I love to watch and play. While I’m there I would try to get other people at the park and form a team so we can play a real basketball game that get people hype and interact with one another. As the 5th day approaches that would be a chill day at home which is very much needed especially after doing plenty of fun activities all week long with more planned. Video game, movies and many other wild things would be taking place and what I mean by wild things, I’m talking about pillow fights, tag within the house and things along the line of that stuff. Honestly after that, that would probably conclude the week of fun.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d want to start by praising my mother, Erica Hawthorne! My mother was the one who pushed me to my limits and advised me on how to advance when I initially started taking pictures. I’ve always been told to make fliers, business cards, and to make connections with everyone I meet. Additionally, she advised me to open a social media account solely for my photography so that others could view my work and spread the news about my existence in case they required photos for any kind of event. I also want to offer a shout-out to my amazing aunt Ashley Nash, who is the best aunt in the entire world! No matter what I chose to do, she has always been there for me. She constantly sends me flyers from all different kinds of clients who are looking for photographers, which I am very appreciative of because it has allowed me to achieve notoriety in places I never imagined I would. Erika and Amirah White, my two sisters, deserve special recognition for their assistance. They have helped me in ways I can’t even begin to fathom, sharing my photography posts on Instagram with complete strangers just to spread the word about me wherever we were. As a new middle school photographer, I’d want to give a big shoutout to my buddies Nick, Freddy, Josh, and Elijah for serving as my models and allowing me to even begin developing my portfolio. Speaking about photographers, I want to thank mzymedia, another outstanding photographer in my community. She was the first other young photographer I met who took her craft seriously and still does excellent work. I looked at mzymedia as competition in a friendly way which also keeps me going because I want to be great! Lastly, I would like to thank my supports. In my personal opinion, I believe that without the people around me giving me a chance I wouldn’t be where I am at today and hopefully, I continue to get support from everyone around me and which them the best.
