We had the good fortune of connecting with Ivan Felipe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ivan, what’s your definition for success?

Success can be define in so many ways not only by wealth in money, but also wealth in happiness.
I would say success is reaching your goals. Success is learning something new. Success is overcoming fear and not giving up. Success is all about noticing the small wins in life.

It is a self satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.

“Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.”
– John D. Rockefeller

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am mainly a lifestyle photographer. I do a bit of everything. From weddings to quinceaneras, creative studio shoots to corporate events–anything that you’d love captured in a frame. I try to photograph from a Creative artistic perspective that will allow my clients to relive the moment every time they look at the images.

I am finishing up my first year as a full time photographer and it has been quite a learning experience. There have been some challenging moments; it hasn’t been easy. One of the biggest challenges has centered around comparing my work to others’ and simply believing in myself and my abilities. I work through this by focusing on myself and what inspires me, and simply pressing forward to the next goal. The reality is that everyone is at a different point in their lives and business journeys, and comparing myself to others only creates fear and doubt, which doesn’t support my growth.

I’ve learned that it’s somewhat of a mental game–it’s a lot about perspective. You can always look at things from different points of view. That shoot that didn’t go as planned or resulted in photos I’m not pleased with–I can either take a poor outcome as a sign and give up, or use it as a Teaching moment. I’ve learned to take notes from those kinds of experiences and use them to improve my work as a professional photographer.

I am a proud Guatemalan native and Latino-owned photography business, and I am willing to travel anywhere in the world to capture those important, candid moments for you!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a close friend come and visit. I would start out the day by going to one of my favorite coffee shops. I would take my friend to lumina, order a drink and have a nice chat to catch up

After the coffee shop we would go for a hike. I would most certainly take my friends to berry college which is one of the largest campus In the world. Tons of hiking areas and just cool places to visit.

After a nice long hike at berry we would go back out later in the evening downtown. Rome is quite a small town, but filled with amazing views tons of history and wonderful people.

We would go have a nice formal dinner at La Scala followed by a walk to Honeycream for some dessert which I believe have the best gelato in town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many folks who deserve thanks for mentoring me on my photography journey.

I would like to thank Alma Roman McCool For all the life lesson advises.

I would like to thank Oliver Robbins and Andy Calvert for giving me the push and support to start my own business, and for making me a part of the U Public Relations team. I’m grateful to them for believing in me and investing the time and effort to help me become a better photographer and entrepreneur.

I would like to thank Sandra and Anibal Vicente for always keeping me motivated and driven to be successful.

I would love to thank my family as well, and a close friend and supporter/assistant, Emily Vicente.
