We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Anthony and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking

For me taking risks is the difference between living and dying! It’s that simple for me. My approach since I was a little boy, was “Just Do It” Nike does not sponsor me in any way UNLESS y’all want to then I’m here…
All jokes aside, my approach has not varied much since I’ve gotten older. The reason I’ve kept this “Just Do It” risk – mindset is that we have a lot of control over how and where our lives go. I’m a firm believer in the “Just Do It” doctrine, with the exception of compromising morals and beliefs. Life is much too short to plan everything to a T. When you just step out and try, you may have just shifted your life for the better. At its core, just taking the risk has made my life a roller coaster of blessings. I’ve been able to meet amazing people and get opportunities I could only dream of! I much rather go all in and face the possibility of a setback, rather than not going for gold and miss a life-changing experience.
There is risk in everything I do, be it the process of building legislation that can change the lives of Georgians for the better, doing community events, or even deciding what I want to do in the gym on a given day. Taking risks can be the difference between me being able to continue the path I’ve been blessed enough to build or failing because of the fear of taking a chance.
For me, the risk Approach of “Just Do It” is just having faith not only in the end goal but myself and my abilities to be able to get to where I want to be!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been on this journey of public service since I was about 14 years old, I’m 20 now. It’s a bit funny when I think back on my life and I am where I am today since I wanted to be a zoo keeper when I was 7 years old. Now, I am running a daily marathon with other young leaders like Bryce Berry and Duro Haynes to ensure Georgians’ rights and liberties are guaranteed and secure!

The proudest moment in recent memory was the creation of my organization “Build a Safer Georgia Coalition” and my team and I writing an 80-page piece of heavy legislation past summer that would refocus responsible gun safety that will maintain the integrity of the 2nd Amendment while also, ensuring our children and families are put in a safer position than in the past.

The entire process of building this bill from the ground up was a lot easier because of the team I had such as Mina Turbani, who was a pillar of our team. Though our team made the process easier, anything worth having is going to face challenges. The best way to handle challenges is to keep pushing forward, and that’s what we did we keep ourselves composed even in the late night hours. We held true to our end goal and eventually we got to the place we wanted to be, which is a finished piece of legislation.

If I listed all of the lessons, I’ve learned over the last few years I’d have to write a trilogy of books to encompass all of the things I’ve learned but, I will mention one thing. Self-Discipline is the lock and key to success. I’ve experienced both sides of self-discipline, it is hard to thrive with a lack of discipline but, with discipline, you can change the world!

My Story: I am a kid from the Eastside of Albany, Georgia. I was raised by an amazing mother who instilled hard work, generosity, and sowing into the community to show appreciation to the generation before you and the generation who will inherit this community after me! With the determination in my heart to transform my state, not just Atlanta but Albany, Macon, Columbus, and Savannah! I do not have a story without these communities who planted the seed of hope and improving the lives of every single Georgian because every single of us deserves the opportunity to be our best selves! I take pride in the work the Lord has enabled me to do. I have spent and will continue to spend my time fighting for the people of Georgia!
