We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Nixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my career has taught me has been the power of intention. Vision is a prerequisite to intention and requires you to accurately assess what you want out of life and why. Without intention, you’ll get swept by the many waves of distraction life is bound to throw at you. This doesn’t mean that you can’t get to a specific destination. It just means a longer trip.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of recording and releasing a live version to my latest EP titled “A Tuesday in October.” This EP was released Tuesday, October 26, 2021 and marked the official birthing of “Taylor Nixon,” “the artist” to the world. “A Tuesday in October” is special to me because I was born on a Tuesday in October. 10/29/1996 to be exact. It serves to be a timestamp in history, informing others that something great took place on this day and they should know about it.

Recording a live studio version to this EP was challenging because it was the first time I had ever done something like this. Not to mention, the session took place the day after a very high-stake show. The band and everyone involved was exhausted including myself. There was essentially no budget for this ordeal. Just a group of about 9-10 college students I managed to rally up based off of connections and skillset. We rearranged and transformed the studio to create the perfect set design, set up lights, mics and instruments then recorded 2 takes of the entire EP live. It took a ton of preparation, communication and energy but it was worth it and the outcome of this ordeal is set to release this Wednesday 10/26/22. Which is the one year anniversary of this project. I believe whole-heartedly in this work and am so proud of my continued efforts to tell the world about it despite unreliable algorithms, very little marketing budgets and personal critics.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take the to visit Stone Mountain because being outdoors is a common interests amongst me and my friends. I would take them to Murphy’s for breakfast, Slutty Vegan for lunch and Gumbeauxs for dinner! I would also take them to Cascade for adult skate night or maybe even visit a national state park in Georgia. Personally, I love the fact that Atlanta ALWAYS has something going on. I love that on any given day, you can have something to do. I don’t believe I’ve really experienced all the city has to offer yet.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to God for placing me in the right places at the right time allowing me come across organizations such as NCEG. (National Collegiate Entertainment Group) NCEG is an organization founded at Georgia State University where creatives come together to be a micro copy of the music industry but on a college campus. NCEG not only gave me necessary constructive criticism as it related to my art and performance level, but also, they provided me with drills and tools to improve within those areas. As well as the opportunity to connect with my student body.
