Meet Elvatanza Hunt | Fashion Designer, Stylist, and Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elvatanza Hunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elvatanza, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always felt as though my career chose me! Having an artistic flair as a child fostered my creativity. With my love of sketching, designing, and sewing, I could delve deeper into my passion for a fashion career path in high school. I turned my passion into a bonafide career at The Fashion Institute of Technology.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Like many companies rebounding after COVID, I have been actively engaged and focused on implementing shifts in my business. One of which involves helping professional women. I help busy professional women who struggle with styling their outfits and who are limited in their time get a boost in their self-confidence through styling consultations. I most recently had the pleasure of working with Danelle Dodge, who ran for the eighth District of Congress in Florida. We curated a capsule wardrobe for her campaign and dubbed it “Danelle’s Election Collection.” Working with such a caring and amazing person was an absolute joy. Although the election results were not her desired outcome, she looked fashionable during her short journey.
Working with women to bring their vision to life is always exciting and fun. However, it can be challenging at the same time. Time constraints and sourcing suitable fabric/clothing can be challenging for my clients and me. Those challenges, however, aren’t insurmountable.
Women-owned small businesses face many financial challenges, and mine is no exception. Undercapitalization has always been an issue. I’ve learned to be resourceful with what I have and innovative in exploring new ideas using different approaches. My encouraging and supportive family and friends are a vital component of my success. The journey has not been easy, but I have continued to forge forward. The Elvatanza brand, as I am, is still unfolding and blossoming into its purpose.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Downtown Atlanta is one of my favorite spots! We would spend time exploring the many options for business and fun. After several long days during the market week at “America’s mart” and exploring the interactions there, we would scurry up to North Buckhead, Atlanta, to enjoy dining at True Foods Kitchen, yum! A couple of our outings might include a visit to the “World of Coca-Cola Museum” and “The College Football Hall of Fame.” It’s always exciting to take in a Braves or Falcon game when time permits. The aquarium is on the hit list too!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I love my inner circle and dedicate this “Shoutout” to my family, friends, awesome clients, and late husband, Larry William Hunt, Sr. My story would be incomplete without them. Most of all, certainly not least, at the top of this list is my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
