We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Cuthbert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up, I always knew I would be an entrepreneur, but that was not a common title in my world, so I went to college (as millennials were told was the next step after high school). Nevertheless, I continued attending school full-time, working when I got out of class and building my skills in whatever free time I had to further my entrepreneurial goals. I didn’t know it would take so long to get it going, but my priorities shifted when my kids came into the picture. After suffering an injury while pregnant with my youngest child, I had to divide my time between work, physical therapy, my older toddler, and being a wife. The stress became overwhelming for me. Once my maternity leave was up, I chose not to return to work but to focus on my business full-time. I had the plan in place because I was always doing the work in my spare time, but now I had the freedom to execute them while being present in my kids’ lives.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Sure! I am a multi-passionate serial entrepreneur. I am the CEO of TACT., a boutique design and consulting firm passionate about partnering with purpose-driven, community brands. We build authentic brands through project management, creative development, digital marketing campaigns, website design, and community engagement. www.handlewithtact.com

Alongside TACT., I serve as the Founder and Executive Director of Pillars Initiative, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to significantly improve the lives of underserved youth and emerging adults through education, service, and scholarship opportunities. We now provide in-person training and workshops at our new office space, Pillars ATL. Pillars ATL is a 3,000+ sq ft versatile community space and event studio that offers hourly rentals for our rooms and membership opportunities for individuals looking for an affordable and safe place to co-work, attend events, and even host their own. You can find out about all things Pillars and book your hourly rentals at www.wearepillars.org

Needless to say, I have my hands in many pots and the journey has been far from easy. Everything that I am doing today, I have dreamed of for years. I legit have high school journals where I mapped out plans for my venue space and ideas of those I want to serve. I learned so much, but two thoughts that stick out to me now are that a dream deferred is not a dream denied and that baby steps in the right direction are still steps. You have to grow through the journey. You have to make sacrifices, do the work and have faith that God will grant you all of the desires of your heart.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Now, this is hard. I was born and raised in East Atlanta. Most of my staples closed years ago or during the pandemic and after becoming a new mom, I am a homebody. The quarantine was a blessing for my ambivert self, allowing my introverted side to thrive, so I am like a fish out of water with the best places to dine and hang out. If you are with me, we will definitely find a cute brunch spot, lounge at a spa, check out a waterfall, chill out at Pillars ATL, and stuff our faces at a new dinner spot that neither of us has eaten at. Just know I aim to be back home and on my couch by 9 pm with my favorite ice cream, curled up with my babies, watching my tv. My life is relatively relaxed when I choose to make it an off day; the soft life is a priority. So in visiting with me…rest is carved out in the day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family. My kids. Although they are toddlers, their eyes inspire me to take on every dream. My husband for being my biggest cheerleader and holding me up when this mompreneurship journey gets hard or my thoughts need a soundboard to navigate. My mom for teaching me resilience. My dad for encouraging my heart to serve. My grandmother who spoke life into me at such a young age. My siblings, nieces, family, and friends for always showing up. My list is long, but I would not be where I am today without my circle. I am forever thankful for all of those who have made an impact on my life and grateful for those on this journey with me.
