We had the good fortune of connecting with Jynxx and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jynxx, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Image and visuals are important in the industry. But that’s just the surface. A major part of having a successful business is positioning yourself properly. That means identifying your unique selling proposition and how you uniquely create value for those you are looking to help. Every successful business needs to know where they fit into the market. What is it that others are doing or not doing and where you fit in in the overall picture. And then speaking the customer’s language- focusing on solving their pain points. The visuals are an aid, and very necessary because we are overstimulated on a regular basis with all kinds of messaging. But substance needs to accompany the visuals.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I started my first entrepreneurial endeavor someone that I trusted sabotaged my business. They promised that they could build my website and improve on what I already had. Not only did they not do that, they took months for what they said would take 2 weeks. After months of putting me off, I hired someone else to create what I actually needed in a site. When the previous developer saw it, he took a complete body of work that I paid someone else for and deleted it. Subsequently I lost all my momentum and eventually shut down the business. It’s bigger than a website and a brand. Running a business is hard enough without people adding hurdles. And if you go into business with people that don’t have integrity, you run the risk of potentially losing it all. Knowing how that felt and what it cost me, I vowed I’d never let that happen to anyone. Ironically my next business would be in design and web development.
From a creative perspective, as artists, we aren’t complete if we’re not creating. And we do it at a high level. But we’re bigger than the art. We listen to your story, your vision and understand your mission to the world. We become an extension of your dream and we create with a high level of creativity, integrity and professionalism. We care.
It’s hard to find people you can build with. When you find them, life becomes easier.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta has very many spur of the moment events. For dinner, I would definitely suggest Poor Calvins or Sunflower Cafe (for all my non-meat eaters). I’m also a big fan of The Works and Top Golf in the Chattahoochee area. We’d probably get some drinks at Draw Bar in the city or at Skyline Park at Ponce City Market. There’s also a bunch of dope trails throughout Atlanta.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My journey started with the help of an amazing mentor by the name of Anthony Joiner. Without his guidance and insight Creative Edge would never have happened. He helped me curate the vision and laid out a blueprint for execution that’s the foundation of how we do business to this day- 7 years later. After 5 years in business I was fortunate enough to cross paths with someone who was determined to have Creative Edge as a part of their team- and made it happen. Every business owner wants to work in a space that is meaningful, fun, and challenging. We were able to create national campaigns that were truly magical and reached people across the entire United States. We created awareness and change in spaces where the world needed a nudge. It was creatively challenging and personally fulfilling. And none of that would have been possible without Lisa Cunningham and BWHI (Black Women’s Health Imperative).
