We had the good fortune of connecting with Malcolm Strapp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Malcolm, what matters most to you?
The Principle that matters most is making sure that anyone who walk in and out of our doors are given a great experience and has gained a new knowledge on how to better take care of themselves physically and mentally. I’ve been in a space to where I didn’t take good care of myself and wasn’t mentally all there due to my eating habits and body shaming. So now my Mission is to make sure that those who are looking to come to a Gym where they want to be themselves and work towards better health Mentally and Physically is top Priority.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart is that I Am/I Can Strength & Conditioning Gym specializes in strength training and functional fitness. Tailored through three specific goals:

Injury Preventing

Increase range of motion

Improving performance and/or daily living

We look to have you leave better, stronger, and more agile than you came.

Business-wise it wasn’t easy to build up to where I am today. Many trials and tribulations that I had to endure in order to get to where I am today. Learning business through the eyes of others and receiving outside help from mentors and educators has helped move the business progressively. What I learned is that doing the work consistently and having good faith in what is meant for you will lead you into different avenues and perspectives on business.

Our brand represents that I Am/I Can accomplish what is put forth in front of me. We aspire to push and set the tone for our members whether it’s fitness, personal, or mental challenges. Every day is a new day to be better versions of who we were yesterday.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Favorite spot is being outdoors, not much of a inside person. I would take them to festivals that are hosted in Atlanta and also to peidmont park to enjoy the events that they host every so often there. I haven’t tried all the restaurants, but the black owned restaurants are always a go to for good food and culture. So letting them get an experience of what Atlanta tastes like will stay with them.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First I want to thank God for allowing me to pursue this path and be trusted in leading in all walks of life. My parents have been a bog part in encouraging me to pursue what it is that I love and I’m passionate about in life. Want to give a special Shout-out to my mentor BayBay McClinton, he has instilled in me what it means to be a owner of your business an has always been there to teach me in one way or another on how to handle and maintain my business as a owner and direction in Health and Fitness. Thankful for all my experiences and internships that have shaped me into the Leader I am today.
