We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Isom and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficulty sit that I have ever had to make was deciding to leave my corporate job of 10 years in banking. And deciding to start my path with my dream of owning my own business and being self-employed, an entrepreneur.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is a small homebase boutique. I cater to women of all sizes, backgrounds, ethnicities and more. My brand has unique pieces. I tried to provide excellent customer service at all costs. However you are going to have those times and customers where everyone is not easy to please. However you have to overcome any challenges that you may face and it’s always a learning lesson. Each customer is a learning lesson. I also like to receive feedback or any criticism because that is what helps me build a better brand. This market is very oversaturated however you have to overcome any obstacles to be better at what it is you love to do. This job is definitely not easy however I don’t see it as a job. I see it as a lifestyle. I’m always excited about ordering new items, Any new trends that come available. And most of all photo shoots and receiving customer service. I have faced many challenges everything from the day-to-day hustle and bustle of having a regular job still. And maintaining my business in addition to being a mom. Sometimes you have to juggle all three. But the best decision that I made was to start working from home which has helped me & made it easy for me to do what it is I do. Even now with inflation. And the cost of gas is extremely expensive it has made it really hard to still continue to keep on pushing with a business where you purchase your merchandise from overseas. So of course with that having to raise prices which is one things that I’m not proud of. But it is something that is necessary to make sure that your business stays afloat and be able to handle the day-to-day task at hand. Unfortunately the shipping cost has now become more than actual merchandise. So yes this has been a very difficult situation not just for every day people but especially for business owners. I’ve learned to be patient and everything that has a beginning has an end. We won’t be in the situation for long we just have to stay the course and keep pushing. I want everyone to know this you have to realize what you want? If you want to be an entrepreneur you half to keep pushing so that your dreams can become a reality. Everyone has to start somewhere. We all can take a lesson from Jeff Bezos. It’s not how you start it’s how you finish.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Everyone has there fav hangout spot, Well me personally I love to eat, Just like everyone else. I have my fav spots. But personally I love seafood. I from the great city of New Orleans and oysters are my favorite seafood to eat. In addition to shrimp and salmon. So to let it be known my favorite restaurant to wine and dine at is Cut’s Atlanta , STK, Ray’s on the River if you are looking to jazz it up. But if you are just looking to kick I would say Spondivits, Newyos and Two Urban Licks. Personally I love concerts so depending on the weekends entertainment. You can always check to see what’s happening at the famous Fox theater or any arena.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout out to my three children. Who have been with me from the start of it all. They are my reason for wanting to have a better life and a better future. I want to be able to leave my children something that the pass hasn’t left me. Which is generational wealth. We have to start generational wealth at some point so that we can pave the way for our generations to come. I love you all Nickolas , Aaliyah & Bradley
