We had the good fortune of connecting with Lyric TheArtist and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lyric, how do you think about risk?
Personally for me, risk taking has always been apart of who I am. I view risk taking as the choice to stay the same or try something out of my comfort zone. I view taking risks is a sign of growth & confidence within myself & not being afraid of what I can potentially become. The role that taking risks has played in my life is that it’s given me a sense of “Whats the worst that can happen?”. Meaning that when I’m trying something new, I go into it with the mind state that I already been doing “this”. & if it works out keep doing it better than the last. If I fail, I just know what not to do on the next go around. The role risk taking has played in my career is its exposed me to different things all around. It’s helped me figure out what works for me & what doesn’t, but most important, it helped me be able to just create different types content & just put it out. There’s something for everybody & taking risks showed me that. So all & all, I say taking risks is apart of the process of seeing what you’re really made of.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Ok, well breaking down myself as an artist. I’m a full time professional Tattoo Artist at City Of Ink on Edgewood Ave. I’m a painter. Sneaker Customizer. & I make music. What sets me apart from others as an over all artist is that I’m never afraid to take a risk & put out content. What I’m most proud about is my confidence in everything I do. How I got to where I am professionally was by asking questions, & learning from mistakes & making it a mission to do better. For me things weren’t easy as they could have been & the main challenge was having that balance between personal life & professional life, having fun & getting work started & completed. What I learned along the way for myself is to just work on one project at a time, get it done, have my fun, then on to the next. If there’s anything I’d want the world to know is we all have a story & we all have things we want out of what we do. Take risks & never look back. What’s the worst that could happen?
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
That’s a hard one for me, not being from Atlanta. There’s literally EVERYTHING to just about get into! As far as nightlife goes I’m either at a spot on Edgewood Ave. or somewhere one of my homies is dj’ing at. I be places but I don’t be anywhere at the same time if that makes sense (haha).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To be completely honest, I’m 100% self taught in everything I do. But if there is anyone that I appreciate it’s the people that’s been riding with me since I was that kid in his aunties basement making music & doing tattoos! The people I met over time & the people that I meet that I don’t even know me like that but believe in everything I’m doing! Shoutout to them because they make everything worth it. & shout out to myself of course ⚡️
