We had the good fortune of connecting with Deyshaun Tucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deyshaun, what matters most to you?
The most important value is integrity. I was born with the important principle of knowing that good character is the best defense for anything in the world, whether it be deceit, envy, jealousy, or just any negativity trying to pull you in. And, as Ive gotten older I realize its phenomenal offense too, being a person of high integrity reminds myself, and others I encounter that being a good person is the right thing to do simply because its the right thing to do.

I’ve also grown to have a great admiration for integrity in people’s work too. When consistently going the extra mile for your endeavors, and making great sacrifices for your desire, people will respect the integrity of your work. Integrity within your work is how you truly find fulfillment in your process and foundation. And that fulfillment in my process and foundation is what allows me to be able to be knocked down or defeated thousands of times and still have the grit to get up and go harder. I think I have the guts to fail because of how honest my passion and work is. So yeah… I look forward to having my own version of 1,000 failed experiments like Thomas Edison– because I have the willingness to believe in that 1,001st attempt just as I firmly believed in the 1st attempt

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Im an actor, and blessed to be apart of the story telling realm. Story telling is one of the most human experiences there is, and that adds a responsibility to my art which I emphatically embrace. I am most proud of how much I believe in myself and how I connect with others. I want to believe in myself so much that it helps you believe in yourself more. Anywhere I go, anything I achieve, any type of person I become, it will all be attributed to my unflinching belief in myself. And its never about me being better than anyone, its about that relentless pursuit to be great and be a difference maker in this world.

As a new actor who’s only been doing this professionally for less than a year, I know that theres so so much to learn. But one gem I learned so far is that I have to make every decision based upon what the character wants, any choice I make on stage or camera should never be about the performance of Deyshaun Tucker. The minute I make it about me and my performance, Ive failed and have let the audience down because Im not being truthful.

I want the world to know that if you feel like what you’re doing deeply matters and makes a difference in this world, then you will go harder and will dig deeper. You will make a positive impact.

Im honored to be doing this interview and honored that people will take the time out to get to know me, my heart, my brain and what lights my soul on fire. Especially, because when I first got approached for this interview, I had 0 union acting credits, 0. And literally a week later I get my first booking! First union credit! A booking for a network tv series! The pure beginning of a career is here, and its a beautiful feeling. I auditioned for 3 roles, of 3 very contrasting characters. I earned it and am blessed to be in a position where people want to use me to tell a story. I know this interview will age well because I look forward to another 75 years of acting haha.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to everyone thats ever supported and believed in me, whether I met you in 1996 when I was born, or if it was a stranger at Starbucks. Ive received genuine support from all types of people, and each person has resonated with me and has been added to the driving force that keeps me going.

I also want to shoutout my acting coach Max Decker, I always call him the guru (even in my contact book in my phone) because he’s always providing me with gems and guidance throughout my very short acting career. Not only as a coach to actor, but from a human to human perspective as well. He’s the first and only acting coach Ive ever had.

And also… I could never do any type of shoutout in any form or fashion without shouting out my wonderful parents, I just want to say thank you– for everything, especially the little things that accumulate in helping me make big strides as a person
