We had the good fortune of connecting with Malachai Steele and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Malachai, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create a space where everything that a person needed to function in ministry and business could be done in one company. I set out to create a brand where the graphics match the vision and the vision could be seen through graphics—creating this space made things easier for the client or artist to focus on their craft and not worry about the graphics and social planting of their project. I wanted morally to become my boss and complete my projects. I wanted to help local small ministries have the same qualities of work as large ministries and big corporations. After being charged high prices for a cd cover, social media promotions, video recording, and Social management. I wanted to be able to control and manage every aspect of my career as an urban gospel artist and graphic designer.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a graphic artist who has been doing graphics for 12 or more years. I fell in love with doing graphics when I learned how to do flyers for a local ministry that I was under. Also while starting out in my music career I need certain graphics and couldn’t afford to pay the high prices to get them done, so I set out to learn the graphic business. In trying to achieve my Ged through a community program I signed up for a graphics art program upon completing the program I launched my business and haven’t looked back since. Over the years it hasn’t been easy. being in a field where it seems everyone can do it I lost customers and I gained customers. I always have to stay evolving, learning the newest trend and ways of doing new things. The lessons that I have learned along the way keep learning.

Never get stuck in one mindset of doing business, although it may be comfortable you cant remain locked into it. What sets me apart from other graphic designers is my attention to detail making sure that I get everything that customers ask for. Also, my turnaround time although it is fast it doesn’t affect my quality of work. I’m excited about the future of my company being able to evolve into a fully functional state-of-the-art network. This would allow me to have a live set and be able to mass-produce a great number of designs for t-shirts, banners, invitations, and more. The quality of the work would surely stand out at a greater professional level.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have 4 people with that I can credit my growth. My two sons Malik age 2 and Mj age 4. Since the birth of these two, they have helped change the drive to be better and push even when I forget the reason why I started. They Motivate me to step out of the box and become the best me I can be. They are my biggest fan and greatest accomplishment. Dr. Kayla Reese although I have only known her for such a short time has caused me to believe in every gift that is inside of me.

She allowed me to take the knowledge and views and passion that I have for my business and apply it to her ministry which has proven great results. Her constant encouragement and belief in me keep me focused. Next My mothers. Although some have gone on the be with the Lord every day is a process for me to continue to make them proud. Their constant words to not give up, keep moving, and you’re covering good ground, keeps me looking forward to my future.
