We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregory Linder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gregory, what role has risk played in your life or career?
One thing I’ve learned from a young age until this very moment is that taking risk are a part of life. Anyone who’s successful or seen success had to take risk to get there. I have a corporate background which means I’ve worked a job in my career, this means that for me to become a fulltime entrepreneur I had to leave the comfort of my job. Which gave me a steady paycheck and healthcare options to creating these things on my own. Taking calculated risk play a major part in my career growth because has an entrepreneur you’re taking risk every day. From business opportunities to purchasing items that will help benefit your business is all a risk. Taking risk isn’t something that comes to you comfortably. You must get use to operating in a place of discomfort, that needs to be your norm. That’s something I had to get used to being a natural anxious person I had to get comfortable with the fact that taking risk will make me highly uncomfortable. Another point is that those same risk don’t always manifest into things that are favorable for you. You won’t always make the right decision. The trick is to learn, learn, learn from your mistakes. Because one thing about it a loss is not a loss unless you learn from it, then it becomes a lesson. Risk allows you to learn and become better. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. The thing is to take as many shots as you possible can, and risk it all if you truly believe in yourself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
This journey I’ve been on with this camera has not always been so easy. It took me years to actually learn how to turn my creative into a business that can actually thrive. I had been a freelancer for so long, while at the same time working in corporate America I was able to develop two skill sets at once. My freelance allowed me to continually sharpen my skill set with the camera. In corporate I was creating corporate film as well as learning digital marketing. That was actually the game changer for me. Not only did I use all that marketing knowledge for my own brand, but I also figured out that I needed a niche to be successful in this industry.

In my corporate job I was seeing all these big checks they were paying to production companies to shoot their videos, and it dawned me on that I was good enough to create the same high quality production. That’s when I was sold on business and brands being my niche. Where I stood apart from other companies like mines was that I created content with the eye of a seasoned producer but also the mind of a professional digital marketer. This allowed me to create awesome content for brands that actually converted into more sales or growth of the brand. So while other production companies were creating beautiful content and handing it over to you and you never hear from them again, I was creating awesome content then had conversation with my clients about how they can position the content to make a return on their investment. That’s the moment it got real. Now clients that looked at my product as an expense were now looking at it like an investment, and that’s what I needed to create a thriving business.

So my business is a hybrid of a production company and marketing agency all in one. Now it’s a brand that can sustain itself versus the freelance life of a camera man.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So I’m not native to Jacksonville, but I’ve been here long enough to know what’s going on. The first place you have to check out is the beaches, and Jax has a list of beautiful beaches to check out. Me personally I like St. Augustine beach. The sand is white and water is kind of blue but I’ll take that. After the beach you have to pick from a long list of black owned restaurants or food trucks like Jenkins BarBQue or The Bawk Bawk Chicken Truck. Then we’re headed over to the Town Center for some shopping and more fine dining. Next we headed over to Smokin Word which is a dope poetry night with some 420 action if that’s your twist. If it’s the first Wednesday of the month we have Art Walk where you can check out all these talented vendors who have created something cool to sell to you. The lastly you have to stop by Remarkable VI. Studios because it’s the right thing to do when you come to Jax! Check out my studio then you’ll be pretty pleased with your trip.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to my mother Jacquelyn Linder. She has always held a standard of greatness that has pushed me to be the man I am today. I would like to also dedicate this to the city of Jacksonville Florida. The people of this city have been supporting me for years, and have trusted me with numerous photo and video projects.
