We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Drake and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonathan, what do you attribute your success to?
I think we have forgotten about relationships and how big of a role customer service really is to our clients. I believe in hard work, I believe in going the extra mile, but I believe treating people the right way trumps everything. We have built our entire company on doing the right thing, every time. It’s not always easy, because you do have individuals who want to take advantage of your good nature, but at the end of the day, we want everyone who comes in contact with us to get the same treatment. I hope our reputation will always be one of quality work, never missing deadlines, but most importantly going above and beyond to make sure our clients are treated better than they have ever been treated before. Many times we have worked with companies that have been burned by a company in the past who does similar work to what we do. It amazes me that these type of people are still out there working after treating people so terribly. I think our referrals are so high because not only is our work quality, but people know that when they work with us they are going to get what we promised them every time.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It has been a journey. I’ve been an entrepreneur and out on my own for the last 11 years. It’s never been easy. Success always requires hard work and it has been a grind sometimes, but working for myself has been the most rewarding experience of my life. I started in video production when I was in high school. I became obsessed with it. I would stay up into the early morning hours perfecting my craft. It was the first time I found myself realizing that I was a “creative”. I picked up graphic design, started shooting photography, and later on started designing websites. I knew having multiple media areas that I understood could bring the potential for my success and I think that is what sets not just me, but our company RedCube Creative apart. We really are a one-stop-shop when it comes to media needs. I think I’m most proud of the ever-changing portfolio we are building. I love working with new people, companies, and industries. I have spent the last 11 years learning. I spent a lot of time watching tutorial videos online. I want to continue to educate myself and be the best I can be. I want to look at things from different perspectives and see what other professionals are doing. I want to stay relevant, but I have my own style in design which I’m very proud of. RedCube Creative is a little over two years old. We have built this company from nothing and I couldn’t be more proud of what it has turned into already. We have added some amazing people to our team and our future is bright. The best is yet to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We live about 45 minutes west of Atlanta. The big city has its draw, but I would start by showing my friend some of the amazing places right here in our small town of Carrollton. We have some amazing places to eat and if you are needing time to relax and unwind you can do it here in Carrollton. The city, much like the beltline in Atlanta has a closed bike path called the Greenbelt. I would take my friend there to see some of the scenery around Carrollton and get some fresh air. We would go over to Lake Carroll and do some fishing or go out on a boat and then we would visit the square in the downtown area to shop and dine. I would probably take them to Atlanta for a show or other entertainment, but when you live out in the country like I do, it is very easy to find a place to sit and talk and just catch up.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I personally have had a few people in my life that went above and beyond to pour into me and I know my business partner Brian has as well. I had a photographer named Chris Isham spend one hour with me at a Starbucks in Atlanta one time. He probably wouldn’t remember, but his one hour of focused time literally changed the game for me. I admired his work, found him online, and reached out to him. I asked if I could buy him a cup of coffee and during that time together he showed me how my camera worked. I’m not talking about how to turn it on, I mean how it performs. He helped explain all the dials and their functions and it finally clicked for me. Since then I have been able to do the same and have had a few random guys reach out to me asking for advice. Sometimes it’s the smallest amount of effort on our part that can make all the difference in someone else’s life.
