Meet Hallie Wells | Certified Professional Dog Trainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hallie Wells and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hallie, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
A principle that matters to me and words I strive to live by are “Leave it better than you found it”
By the time most pet parents are reaching out to me, they’re in distress and they’ve tried other options that might not have worked. I focus on providing up to date, scientific training methods to every client and animal I work with. This ensures everyone is getting a digestible education, having fun during our training sessions and practicing on their own, and I’m enabling my clients to have the confidence to continue training without me!
I want to have a positive impact on the pet and dog training community. I treat everyone with respect and focus on thoughtful education geared towards the pet parents and their dogs. I ensure my clients and their dogs are in a better headspace than before we stared training together.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business was started in December 2020-not an easy time, but it has been so rewarding! I have clients all over the country because I can meet with them virtually. I started offering my dog training services in the Atlanta area in person in 2021 and the journey that got me here built such a strong foundation. I moved to Atlanta in late 2018 to work with Peach on a Leash after being in the nonprofit assistance dog industry and living in New York. In 2020, I started offering my service dog training to clients virtually and recognized the need to meet with pet parents in Atlanta, too!
Being a one woman show can be a challenge! I had to learn how to successfully balance my business, but also marketing, communication, networking, accounting, scheduling…It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve become a confident part of the dog training community. I’ve invested time and energy mentoring up and coming trainers and that has been so reinforcing for me.
I want Atlanta, and the rest of the world, to know that my business is one that accepts everyone and I’ve strived to be inclusive and focus on teaching dogs and their owners with positive and fun training.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my best friend comes to visit we always head to our favorite spots like B-side in downtown Decatur for some bagels before walking around Legacy park with our dogs. I love taking my out of town friends to the staples in Atlanta like the beltline, Ponce City Market, and fun bars in Five Points and East Atlanta Village, and my favorite breweries. We browse different antique and vintage shops, grab beers at breweries like Wild Heaven, Three Taverns, and Bold Monk.
But, one thing that I love about Atlanta is the variety you can find taking day trips outside the city. Heading up to Clayton to hike, shop at Wander North Georgia, and pick up fresh produce at a farm stand is one of my favorites. I love visiting small towns like Comer, Madison, and Elijay too! It’s great that you can spend the day in a new town and then head home in time to meet friends at a brewery or restaurant like VBQ or going to Buford Highway for pho.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The positive reinformcent dog training community is a really encouraging place. There are so many fantastic dog trainers in Atlanta including Rachel Callery with Unleash ATL, the women at Peach on a Leash, and many more!
