Meet Jasmin Hadrany | Contemporary Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmin Hadrany and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmin, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I always had a big passion for drawing, painting and creating things overall. I used to draw a lot as a child and always felt the urge to express myself. During school, I had my paper and pen ready to sketch and draw, as this helped me to focus. However, I always kept my work for myself, as I was not sure if people would like it. Even my close friends and family only saw a handful of my pieces. I always wanted to study art and further focus on my artistic skills, but I feared to fail as everyone says that this business is so hard and you need a lot of luck to succeed. And it is somehow true, you need a lot of endurance and it is hard. But there are hundreds of artists that succeeded. I saw them online, I saw their exhibitions and I always looked up to them, as they turned their passion into their career. As I always felt the urge of expressing myself, I decided to try it by myself. I decided to pursue my artistic career in 2021. In may 2021, I started to show my work online and got my first sales, followed by my first exhibition, which is amazing! This pushed me further. Now I am selling my work through different channels and am working on my next exhibition. I already learned so much on this journey and I am more than happy that I decided to finally show my work.
To sum it up, I decided to purse an artistic career as it is something that I always wanted to do. It is my passion. Art is what makes me happy and it feels amazing to get some appreciation from the outside. I am excited about what is to come.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My artistic focus lies on the human body. My goal is to reinterpret the nude in a new way. I feel like today, nudity is often seen as something that should not be displayed and goes through a lot of censoring, especially on social media. Through my work and the process of reshaping the nude itself, I want to change the point of view on this topic and make it something beautiful for everyone.I hope that I am opening a new discussion about the topic of nudity. I work with human forms in all shapes and draw them through my imagination. I detach the forms from each other, aligning them into something new.
I have to say that this kind of art sadly goes through a lot of censoring and it is hard for me to grow my audience on social media platforms. However, on art platforms, it is seen as what it is, art, which is why I am present on those platforms and get a lot of resonance there. Nevertherless, I still believe that social media platforms need to rethink their strategy, as I know a lot of artists struggle here and you should not treat it as something that does not deserve to be seen.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start our trip with some good food in town. I am a big fan of the breakfast at Sneak In, so our trip would start there. After eating and drinking all the stuff we would move on and go through the 7th district, where you can find everything. Here, we would look through different vintage stores, stop at all the little galleries and finish the day off with some drinks at a bar there. The next day, we would definitely visit one of the museums here. I love the exhibitions at albertina, so this is a must. I would also look out for a good event, maybe at praterstrasse or grelle forelle, as vienna has some good clubs to go out. The next day would start somewhere in the 19th district, strolling through the beautiful vineyards and stopping at a Heuriger for food and drinks. At the end of the week, we would also stop at alte donau and maybe have a look at prater.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
One artist I really am fascinated about is Valentin Betting. @betting_on_art He creates amazing portraits and digital pieces
