We had the good fortune of connecting with Loredana Iacovelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Loredana, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Adaptability. Growing up a first generation immigrant, leaving a life behind in Mexico, and learning a whole new language, all at such a young age, causes skills and habits to be developed. I do believe the elastic-like quality of adaptability has been the reason why I am a versatile woman and I have the ability to create opportunities for myself which leads to me living a life that I have always dreamed of and that does go hand in hand with my definition of “success”.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe every artist has their own style due to their past experiences blended with pain and perspective. For me, my art is my healing, I process hardships and express myself through art. It almost feels like I hold my breath until I am able to fully create something and then comes an emotional release. Getting to this point in my artistic and personal development has not been easy, it was confusing and very isolating until it wasn’t, at that point I knew I was ready to share that side of myself with the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
OCTOPUS BAR OCTOPUS BAR OCTOPUS BAR. But since that is a late night spot only open certain nights during the week, the Sweet Auburn Curb Market is wonderful, most spots along Buford Highway are great, Ruby Chow’s, Little Spirit, and indisputably Delbar. Definitely a little picnic in Freedom Park, weather permitting, and of course, a live show along with hitting up a thrift store.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is dedicated to all the badass women in my life; past, present, & future. Y para mi mamá.
