We had the good fortune of connecting with Devin Majesty Dozia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Devin Majesty, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As a child my family not only introduced me to art, but they encouraged me to pursue things that I am passionate about. I later found out, my passion for photography, and found a bigger purpose that gave me even more motivation.

My GrandMaMa is a very talented artist. A lot of my family’s creativity stems from her. My father has always been creative, from poetry to cosmetology to cooking. For most of my life his career has been using his natural talents and abilities. He gave me my first job working with Dozia Catering, his catering business. It’s always been fun helping him with his goals and dreams and learning from him. My mother worked really hard and she always encouraged me and my sisters to be great at whatever we choose to do, I dream big, because she dreams big.

When I was ten years old I use to play with my big sister’s digital camera, my folks decided to buy me a camera of my own and I learned about photography and videography. I used my dad’s catering business as a muse and a way to develop my skills. He also introduced me to other photographers who served as mentors. Through this I learned how talented I was, creating full documentaries of every event my dad catered. I started taking pictures of the food and the decor and the guests. His clients would ask for my photos and videos. I learned that I like to capture all the beautiful moments and memories and how important it was to do so. I realized that I like helping people showcase what they do.

Helping became my passion. Growing up religious and spiritual taught me that loving God is loving other people and meeting their needs. As an artist, it’s not just about making cool visuals and telling stories. I am actually helping people with their needs, healing myself and others; while doing what I like to do. I viewed my passion for art through a spiritual lens. Art also served as a gateway to me discovering my clairvoyance and other psychic abilities, which later led me to helping people with those gifts as well.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am well rounded with media arts: Photography, Graphic Design, Graphic Art, Video Production, Music Production, and more. I love candid shots for the authentic moments especially smiles and laughs. Give me the challenging photo edits like tummy tucking, tattoo and makeup altering; any transformations. I’m a magician!

I like to take photos of spills and accidents and add colors and visual effects to make it look like abstract art. The original photo could be for example, an accidental fire or a broken laptop screen that I manipulated. I like turning messes into masterpieces! I’m an alchemist in many ways!
I also do divination for people in my community that need advice on certain aspects of their lives. My specialty is with tarot readings, I also use runes and magic mirrors to communicate with spirit. My clients often update me on their situations and I continue to give advice and offer information about spiritual concepts.
I feel that I need to promote my personal art more. I’ve had fear of not being perfect, seeing the work of other artists and being intimidated, and fearing that people won’t understand. I’ve had to realize how unique I am. I have my own point of view and who knows how many others can relate to it and learn from it. I’ve had to learn that people care about me, they want to see me grow so I shouldn’t be afraid of showing my progress and celebrating the big steps and the little steps I take. I’ve had to stop caring about what everybody thinks and says and just be proud of myself and express myself freely!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Little Five Points The Atlanta belt line
Piedmont Park
Botanical Gardens.
Atlantic Station is probably my favorite place to hangout, eat, look at people and shop.
The Millennium Gate Museum is next to it with a beautiful arch with a lake across from it.
SkyView Atlanta at night, get on the Ferris wheel, I manage the photography so we can take cool photos and enjoy the view 200ft in the air.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family is my biggest support and close friends who also invest time money and resources and push me to take things to the next level. Including talented artists I have worked with that have inspired me and helped me see my worth. To name a few:
Leonard “Chef Dozia” – My father and owner of Dozia Catering
Catherine/Yvonne – My Mother
Doris Dozier – My GrandMaMa – Visual Artist
All of my sisters, cousins aunts and uncles! (living and deceased)
Jeremiah Ingram – Jerrybeadzz chakra healing jewelry
Justice Bryant – The Tinyteacup Cafe
InnerG – Inngergetic Indigo, Celestial Clouds
Omar Ramos – Ox Entertainment

I learned graphic design and I produced my first student films at Valdosta State University, and developed skills through the Mass Media program.
I joined Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity Inc. My brothers near to me and far taught me a lot about love and diplomacy and even kicked off my spiritual initiation and awakening.

I’m thankful for my own spiritual advisors, who taught me a lot about my spirituality. that helped me realize my connection to the divine. They taught me how to connect my spirituality to my work, also using symbology, sacred geometry and my clairvoyant abilities in my graphic art and designs. They introduced me to the Book of Enoch and other holy books / spiritual text.
