Meet Jordan W. Carter | Record Label Co-Founder & Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan W. Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan W., what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
What really makes me happy is being able to bless others with my music! I love to communicate through percussion, hip-hop, and jazz to make bold claims for the future as well as to inspire the next generation of black artists. It brings me joy knowing each day presents yet another opportunity to create something new and I am committed to helping young people find what truly brings joy to their own lives.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art relies heavily on vulnerability, humor, and musicality. As a rapper/producer, I am able to curate my own sound in a way that no else is able to. I already considered myself the best rapper alive prior to learning how to produce last year, but now I am just really over the top with it. Once my music really catches, it’ll be a wildfire effect and a lot of people are going to say that I may have been an overnight success. However, I am the product of many late night open mics, middle school and high school jazz band rehearsals, and multiple performances playing classical percussion. My record label, Too Solid Entertainment, has provided me with the confidence to leave my 9-5 job and fully pursue my dream. It hasn’t been easy, but with God, my business partner, Jebril Reeves, and our first signee, ArizonaMarty, I am learning to trust my team as well as how to strategically step up and fall back. I want to world to know my team is a well-oiled machine and you can bet the house on my music career and record label reaching amazing heights.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love getting The Flying Biscuit’s Piedmont Omelette and eating it in Piedmont Park. I would definitely go skating at Cascade Skating Rink or to the movies at Movies ATL then walk to Zaxby’s afterwards. Even though it is very touristy place, I actually enjoy the Varsity’s onion rings and chili dogs. I would take a friend on a run on the Beltline or go thrifting at Junkman’s Daughter.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
