Meet Samantha Jean-Francois | Royal Richness

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Jean-Francois and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, how did you come up with the idea for your business?

I started Royal Richness back in 2018. At that time, I thought that I had finally found a product that would keep my skin moisturized for the winter season, As far as I can remember, I always had trouble keeping my skin hydrated; growing up my skin was dry, itchy, and rough. One day as I was applying on lotion, I said to myself, ” I like this lotion, but what’s in it?” When I turned it around and read the ingredients, I quickly realized I had no clue what these ingredients were; let alone pronounce them. During that time, I was transitioning to more of a healthier natural lifestyle, and that’s when the idea came to me  to create my own lotion, with natural ingredients. I started to do some research and discovered body butters and how it benefits the skin.

After learning about body butters, I started to create recipes and then experimented. It took about two tries before I got the original body butter, which is now known as Bare Essentials. After noticing how effective the body butter was on my skin; I knew that I had a great product and it needed to be shared.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The Royal Richness brand, is all about self-care. In today’s world, we’re all working hard to achieve a set standard for ourselves. As we reach to achieve our goals, we want to look the part. I am truly proud of every product that I have created because I see its purpose making a difference in someone’s daily life. Whether its the soft, hydrated, glowing skin from the butters or smoother and shiner hair from the oils, Royal Richness reflects how we want to see ourselves, in a healthy natural way.
I do believe that my professional career in occupational therapy has started to influence my creativity with my brand; and its so interesting, In occupational therapy(OT), one well known popular topic is sensory input (that simply means how your brain perceives information from your senses). With everything related to Royal Richness, I view it from an OT critical lens. Relating with sensory, the products stand out in the touch, smell, look, and feel of the product on the desired area.
Creating and launching Royal Richness, at the time that I did, had some strengths and challenges. Having the right circle of friends, networking, mentors, education, research, prayers, and finances assisted with the pace of the development of Royal Richness. Anyone who looking into starting a business must know that when you stop the business stops. You are your brand and its going to take patience, tears, prayers, hardwork, and discipline to get you where you want to be. Success does not happen over night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout out to my family, friends, and all my supporters, who have supported Royal Richness from the beginning. Royal Richness would not be where it is if it weren’t for you guys.
