We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a young girl I’ve always done or learned to create something and market it! Even if i made very little money from it I’ve always sold something. In high school I was the nail tech. I’ve always felt sick punching a clock! I’ve always known it wasn’t for me. I’ve always hustled illegally and legally, my youngest son perished in a car accident at the age of 12 my dynamic switched. I didn’t want to do anything illegal anymore because I felt like God was trying to tell me something! So I registered for culinary arts school and truck driving school. I put all of my hurt from the death of my son into my actions and pushed forward rehabilitating my thought processes, my actions, and my future!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I would say my baking business was forced! It’s funny to say but where i am with it it’s true! When I was in culinary school i perfected the old fashioned pound cake. Taking away from it being dense in texture to a more moist, flavorful, fluffier texture. Ive perfected the recipe made it my own. I can bake them with my eyes closed. They were so good I began to sell them. Next can’t flavors lemon, strawberry! I’m a person that will never say i can’t or i don’t know how! If you ask me do i know how to create this i will tell you of course and then my research begins. I’ve made a couple of custom cakes in my past with no direction has taken hours on hours! It was horrid for me! During the pandemic I began to get calls for custom cakes and it was on. I wasn’t exactly happy with my work at all, i knew i had to get better! But people were happy with it! So happy i became overwhelmed and almost quit at one point! I started classes at Wilton. Hated it! Next I began to follow other cakers on social media and have taken their classes. This put me where i needed to be, I got my caking mojo back! And I went crazy! They are loving it! Now I’m creating ways to make products to sell daily! While I’m creating custom cakes. I want the world to know that my story is just like theirs, I’ve learned to dance in the storm and so can they! I want everyone to know that my products each and everyone are made from love created from my time and hands only! If I’m not happy with the products I don’t distribute or i will give it to you for free!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m 44 years old lol so the loop if it’s nice out few bars in the suburbs. But for the most part i am a home body I’m actually at the party with someone else it’s never my idea

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

Also people that don’t let me fall keep me grounded my grandmother Pixie, my daughter’s father Curtis, , friends Devon, Aleesha, Rayshaunda, Monique, Evelyn, & Nicole. They’ve always supported me mentally, physically, spiritually, and financially when needed with no hesitation! I have a very strong foundation.
