Meet Landyn Robinson | Hairstylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Landyn Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Landyn, how do you think about risk?
The way I feel about risk are to simply take them. I am new to Georgia . I’ve only been in Atlanta for now a year and 7 months and I could honestly say that fear and risk taking has been the best thing I’ve ever done. Upon moving here I had just had a baby and my mother passed. So I was nervous I didn’t know what this new life had in store for me. I down played my career as well as myself because of fear. As a child I’ve had this dream to move to atlanta and be a hairstylist. I knew it was my time to live my dream and walk in my truth. I worked at The original Hotdog factory for 6 months my first year here. While working I did the foot work with no business cards just my word of mouth. Once I let go out fear and risked it I left hotdog factory went full time in a salon, that’s where my life began to become better than I expected. With not only taking the risk to move to a different city in a world wide pandemic, I also took the risk to branch out in my own and become my own boss in a new state.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got to where I am today by never giving up, I used to take the easy way out and when things got hard for me in the hair business I would quit and go work a job. I would convince myself that I didn’t need to do hair it was just something fun to do until I actually started to see how I was helping people. It’s not just about a cute style its about the smile when your all finished. Hearing women tell me how beautiful I made them feel or when I give them a new look warms my heart. As a young girl I have struggled with confidence issues so I got into the industry to make women who feel like me , feel better than me when they walk out my salon. None of this was easy for me I struggled alot in the industry. The struggle comes when you have a slow Season and you are battling with yourself to see if you can make it without getting that second corporate job. You have to train your mind to know that your going to be ok instead of trying to take the fast way out. Learn patience’s it helps when becoming and entrepreneur.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First we would hang out at a nail salon. Preferably nail talk and tan or nail bar buckhead I love the service at those places.
we’ll go and eat lunch
Do a little shopping at Lennox or Cumberland mall
If we decided to hang out I love Sovereign Sweets in buckhead that’s my go to spot or The Original Hotdog factory on a Friday night! They have hookah and the vibe is so chill

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother was and still is my biggest supporter through life and death. Because of her I know I Can do it. My uncle who has been my business coach and my manager.
All my family and friends who support me all the way from buffalo Ny my home town.
My son & his father who keep me going even when it gets hard.
My siblings for always rooting for me
