Meet Amanda Amethyst” Nicole Tarver Turner | Life Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda “Amethyst” Nicole Tarver Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda “Amethyst” Nicole, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For 18 years I worked in careers where being available on your time off was expected, pulling 12 hour days were normal, and the more efficient you were at performing under these conditions the more work they expected of you. The reward for being a good worker is being over worked. I was a mother of 2 and I was exhausted and unhappy. At the end of 2017 I experienced a health scare that put my life into perspective. I was missing out on life and time with my children. After realizing that no matter how great you are at your job they will replace you, I started to rethink my life, my health, and my career path. I had been spiritual advising part time for 6 years at this point. It was far more rewarding and I knew it was my true calling, but I had been afraid to take a chance. My long term partner encouraged me to follow my passion. In 2018 I elected not to renew my contract and decided to take a chance on me. I began spiritual advising and life coaching full time and I haven’t looked back. My health improved. My relationship with my children improved. My relationships with my partners improved. Working for yourself presents it’s own challenges, but doing what you love makes it all worth it. My advice to anyone wishing to start there own business is to choose something you love, create a plan, network, and take a chance on yourself..

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an educator, pagan minister, spiritual adviser, life coach, reiki/chakra healer, rootworker, end- of life doula, and radio show host. I was born with my gifts, which were encouraged and nurtured by my maternal grandmother. She taught me the arts of herbs, root work, and conjure. When my grandmother passed away I some difficult teen years trying to balance my gifts with just wanting to be normal. A high school history teacher introduced me to his friend, a retired teacher, the renowned psychic Jane Hudson. She mentored me from 1997 until she passed in 2014. It is with Jane’s help I was able focus my talents as a medium, spiritual advisor, and minister. In 2013 I decided to expanded my healing works to include Reiki Energy Healing. I studied under Jessica Miller. In 2018 I achieved mastery level and was granted permission to open my own school of Reiki. I now see clients both in-person and virtually around the world. This has not been an easy journey but it has been rewarding. It has taken discipline, risk- taking, and some serious soul searching. Learning to network and build a professional village of sorts has also been vital to my success. It takes a village, not just in child rearing, but in building success. I love helping my clients manifest the lives they desire, I now have 2 radio shows, What Up Witches!!! and Amethyst Afterhours. I am also working on a few collaborations and will be announcing some upcoming retreats and conferences around the US for now but outside the country as travel restrictions lessen. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is one of the most diverse cities for culinary experiences. Some of my favorite restaurants are: EAV Thai Sushi, El Rey Del Taco, Nakato Japanese, Café Alsace (French), Divan (Persian), Papi’s Cuban, Fox Bros BBQ, The Vortex, Mangos Caribbean, and Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand. As far as places to visit, if you have a week in Atlanta in my opinion you must check out: The King Center, The Herndon Home Museum, The wren’s Nest, The Civil Rights Museum, a show at the Fox Theater, spend a day at the High Museum of Art, the Clermont Lounge, a burlesque show at the Red Light Café, and relax with a spa day at Jeju.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
While my gifts are responsible for my success I owe a great deal of thanks to 3 women who are no longer with us but helped me become the woman I am today. My grandmother, Velva, for proving me with the base I needed to develop my gifts.
My great-aunt, Agnes, for teaching me the importance of prioritizing my life properly- People over Money, Experiences over Possessions.
My mentor, Jane Hudson, well known spiritual advisor and psychic, for being patient with me for 20 years while teaching me to understand, control, and use my gifts properly.
While they have all passed on I would not be where I am today had it not been for them.
