We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine/Tanisha Johnson/Cropper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine/Tanisha, why did you pursue a creative career?
Honestly, we didn’t necessarily “pursue” it.

This journey has felt more like a series of inevitable circumstances that led us to combining our long-term passions and experiences.

We saw an opportunity to expand on our strengths in a way that allowed us to be a valuable resource to our community.

More than anything, we recognize the way this world moves on creativity, and we recognize the importance of operating entirely in your element and doing what you love.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
ShlicknSmoov Studios is a creative agency specializing in branding, photography, styling, & project management. We work with brands to help them create an identity that’s a true reflection of who they are and how they want to be perceived.

We’re creatives at our core.

We bring the perfect balance and ease to everything we create…and honestly, we bring a damn good time too.

We help our clients break away from the standard to operate fully in their authenticity, because there’s a joy in doing what you love and loving the way you do it.

What excites us the most is knowing that we haven’t even tapped into our full potential. We’re looking forward to expanding our brand and executing all of our creative concepts.

We got to where we are today by allowing things to align the way they were supposed to. We wouldn’t necessarily say it was “easy” but there is a sense of ease that comes with letting things flow. We spent a lot of time in our respective fields gaining the experience and skill sets needed to fill a gap where there was an overwhelming lack of knowledge and resources for people in our community.

Although we’re just getting started in our business, we learned quickly how to navigate the ebb and flow of this new component of our relationship – moving back and forth between friendship and business partners.

With the dynamic of our friendship and the nature of our personalities being so lax, we had to learn to clearly define the roles of our partnership. Let’s just keep it real. If we didn’t, nothing would ever get done!

We want the world (not the city, but the world Craig) to know that at the heart of our business is the desire to leverage our community with the knowledge and resources we’ve gained over the years.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’re all about our family and friends. So the first thing we’re doing is getting somebody’s uncle on the grill (equipped with the ‘Uncle at the Cookout’ sandals). We’re talking a full day of good food, good drinks, and good people.

Now…it’s important that you know we’re a dynamic duo, but we’re also complete opposites. So after the cookout, one half of us is going home. The other half is taking you out for the night. This probably means your night ends with you at a QT, a Waffle House, and a strip club just for the culture.

So whichever side you fall on, we got you covered.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would love to SHOUTOUT our family and closest friends. Their support and encouragement is paramount to our success. We appreciate every one of them that knew this is what we were supposed to be doing long before we did.
