We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Mobley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brian, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
I’ve learned that talent alone won’t make you a successful business. Of course having the know how is key, but that’s only about 10-15% of what it takes to run a business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There’s only one major thing that separates anyone from everyone and that is the individuality of us all. The fact that I made a decision to pick up a camera, self-teach (YouTube university lol) and have people appreciate the outcome has been a humble and gratifying experience.

It’s never easy (haha). Sometimes I’m wrong and that’s ok. It’s been downs than ups, but I weigh them all the same because it’s the end goal and where I’m trying to end up that is important to me. I mean I’ve never driven on a street that didn’t have at least one bump or uneven surface on it. That’s pretty much how I approach things professionally and personally.

Along the way, I’ve learned that a clear understanding of what is expected can solve a ton of problems in the end. My thing is expectations vs. reality.

I’m just like everyone else trying to carve out my mark in this world-it just happens to be through photography. My slogan is “My lens. Your moment.” Trying to capsulize moments as they come.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Now that depends on what your best friend is into (lol). It just depends on what you like. In all honesty when I’m looking for a good spot to eat I usually hit up Gardy Banks over at @dudelovesfood.

Here’s what he recommended: The consulate, which features cuisines from around the globe and changes every three months. I would take a friend there. That’s definitely an experience worth trying! Ray’s, which is an upscale spot perfect, the ambiance is amazing and everything on the menu is good. Harold’s Ice bar would be the night out with the fellas. They have the best whole wings in town, great drinks and karaoke on Thursdays with hookahs every night.

We would have to hit Ponce City Market, Main Street College Park and Little Five points. All these places have a good energy vibe to them with multiple things to do.

Again, it’s always something to do and this city allows you to pick and choose the vibe you’re on for the day!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There is so many people and books I can lean on to that along my journey made me the person I am today, but I want to shoutout my brother Triton Mobley. He has believed in me since day 1! He’s always been there whether it is as an ear to listen, a voice for advice or a foundation on which to build.
