Meet Ross Peterkin | Multi-Media Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ross Peterkin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ross, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
What habits do I feel help me be successful… the continuously drive to learn and improve on my style. I can look at ever piece I did and still see areas that I can improve. So my art is continuously evolving just like me as a person.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is bright, colorful, the imaginative character is inspired by childhood cartoons, my Barbadian culture, Japanese anime, street art and graffiti, and world pop cultures. What set me apart is that my style is continuously evolving and I try to incorporate new styles into my art

One of the most exciting things that happened with my artwork was when Marvel’s show “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” featured one of my designs in Krog Street Tunnel in two of their episodes and on top of that there was a couple of Youtube channels that acknowledge my design as an easter egg for Marvel universe

I get to where I’m today professionally. by continuously looking for opportunities to be involved in the Atlanta art scene, collaborating with local artists, and pushing myself to try new things, art styles to improve on my art.

The challenge is to put yourself and your art out there in the world. What I learned, is that the world is huge and they will be people out there in the world that appreciates your style and your hard work. So, I try not to be too hard on myself.

I want the world to know that my art will never stop evolving because there is so much inspiration out there. I want my art to make people smile and bring joy to them. So if I can bring positive and happiness to the world I will never stop doing what I love.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many places awesome places in Atlanta to see, we might need more than a week to take in everything. But here are some of many favorite places Holy taco in East Atlanta Village for a pork belly holy breakfast bowl and margaritas. Krog Street area to check out the graffiti and probably spray paint a quick design and after either grab a few drinks and some food from Krog street market or 97 Estoria. West End area to check out the breweries over this (Best End, Wild Heaven, and Monday Night Garage) and hop on the beltline to check out the art around that area, Ponce and little 5 areas for a great view of Atlanta from the Clermont Rooftop and The Local for the wings, wrecking bar for the awsome cocktails and craft beer. And on the south side North 2 South Cidery for great cider and atmosphere. I can go on for days about all these great places in this wonderful city.
